In Japan, It’s Not “If” You Will Get a Wii U, But “Which”

Kotaku - So, the Wii U will be lining the shelves in a couple of months (November 18th for the US, 30th for Europe and Australia, and December 8th for Japan). With all the perks of the Wii plus increase capabilities and the new Wii U Game Pad, the new console is sure to be the talk of the town this Christmas season. In Japan, Weekly Famitsu asked its readers about their thoughts on Nintendo's new gaming wonder. Here's what they had to say. (Wii U)

While I agree Japan will lap it up it won't have the same amount of success.

It's obvious the Japanese dynamic has been switched to handhelds.

I suspect that the success of the Wii U in Japan will have a lot to do with the 3DS/Wii U dynamic that they are beginning with games like MH3 and DQ 10. Just as they need to cause people in the west to find handhelds more appealing, they need to do the opposite in the east. And they're doing it.

i dont know, its easy to think that based on current numbers, but if you think about, the only current thing right now are handhelds... so why wouldnt they be selling more than 5 year old hardware that almost everyone has by now.

I think the WiiU will be the 1st to show if the market is indeed changing, though it might not be an accurate metric, because the console could be a piece of crap(which i totally dont think it is) but with a Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest game coming out within the 1st six months, that thing wont stop selling in japan

The WiiU has Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Dragon Quest X, the console is a must have in Japan.

I agree it is a must have but numbers don't like and TGS was dominated by mobile and handhelds, I have no idea why I am getting so many disagrees for stating the obvious its not like I said the wii U wouldn't sell a lot.
