Is there anything wrong with a game that is the same year after year?

Madden, FIFA, Call of Duty, and any other game that changes very little year to year. We could argue that Call of Duty added Zombie mode and other little additions make the series new. That is true. It happens from time to time. Even Madden gets an exciting upgrade every few years. But usually the additions to these games are not enough to say they are different year to year.

Yes you are spending money on the same game you got years ago with very minor tweaks. Stick with the madden game etc you got years ago and it will save you a lot of money throughout the years.

As long as people buy those games every year then they won't bother to make legitimate upgrades.

Both sides are benefiting. If you buy and enjoy cod every year, good for you. What I really hate is other developers who change their games to ride on COD's coattail.

it won't sell like cod and neither the fans will like it.

This guy is comparing games based on real-life sports, which cant be changed much due to them been based on real things.. where as cod is based on fantasy and has nothing to keep it from changing any aspect of the game to any degree.

If black ops 2 is the same old sht again, then it needs to get some scores similar to resi6..

Im hoping its good, but i passed on mw3 and ill pass on blackop2 if its the same sht, and from what iv seen from it so far, it could easily pass as a map pack for any of the last 4 or 5 cod games.

Yes after a wild it start to get boring, when you play it all the time. So I take breaks when I play.

There isn't really a good example of the same game on a yearly basis. COD gets a lot of hate, but its on a two year development cycle and the Treyarch games differ greatly from the IW/Sledgehammer games.

Madden games have been tweaked every year, but I usually only buy one every few years. If there is a market for a yearly release, I don't have a problem with it, let people spend their own money however they want.

I think it's hilarious how some disagrees about you saying people can spend their money how they see fit. People are broken... Truly sad. In CoDs case, what is Possably going to change? There's only so much you can do with a FPS. Point and shoot. Rinse and repeat. Black ops 2 is set in the future, what else do you want?

If it sells well year after year, then no. When it starts selling poorly, then it's time for a change. Changing a brand to early can be worse than allowing a brand to remain the same. The key is having good people that know and prepare to change the brand when necessary.
