gamrReview: "Remember the original Devil May Cry, that perfect concoction of horror, suspense and thrillingly stylistic combat? Remember how fresh it felt, how full of life it was? Remember the more action-based second, the lackluster third and the reasonable fourth? Remember thinking that it had somewhat lost its way, but with a bit of love and attention and the right care it could, possibly, return to its former glory?
Well, this isn't it."
Once again, they've stabbed their fanbase in the back.
It's funny buy the actually the games they made for Wii and handheld are quite good (Zach & Wiki, Monster Hunter...).
F that.
It'll be my first video game purchase of 2013.
Remember the more action-based second, the lackluster third and the reasonable fourth? No. I remember a terrible second, a perfect third and a tired fourth.
Seriously if you don't think DMC2 was rubbish and DMC3 was the pinnacle of the series, I think you don't understand what made DMC good in the first place. None of the stories really linked in to each other. Terrible devil trigger aside the new DmC shows every sign of being a great action game without people thinking DMC1 was some kind of perfect game - it wasn't. It was just the first.
seriously you sound like my friend who has no opinion of is own and goes by what reviewers say.
DMC2 was the worst of the series by a long way. I felt that when it came out, I still feel that way now. I don't need someone to tell me that, but the article writer clearly hasn't figured that out on his own.
DMC1 was a great game for its time. The gameplay was unique comapred to everything that was out, and it basically started up the Action/Adventure Hack n Slash genre last generation.
DMC2, was just not... not that good. Too easy, boring, etc.
DMC3 & SE. Holy shit. Fucking amazing. The gameplay was absolute perfection. The story line? Great. It was like a B-rated action movie, cheesy, but compelling. The voice actors were excellent. Two brothers duking it out? Great. Reuban Langdon and Daniel Southworth as Vergil. Speaking of Vergil, he was great. It tied in perfectly to Nelo Angelo in DMC, and he was fun to play with too.
DMC4. It started off strong. Nero, Devil Bringer, Exceed System, fighting Dante... But it just kinda didn't live up. Poor level design, no telling us WHO Nero is (apparently he's Vergils Son), etc.
and i don't care what capcom does, not buying a good game that they make will only hurt me
Don't know if you know this but your comment states that you automatically assume all Capcom games to be good because you don't care what they do. You buy good games because not buying them in the end will remove possibility of future good games. Therefore you will buy all Capcom games.
2013 seems to be the year of the hack n' slash, it's funny how all the hack n' slash games always release during the same year a new God of War comes out, they're hoping and trying to thrive off of God of War hype so that there games do better.
If you don't believe me:
2010) Darksiders, Dante's Inferno, Bayonetta, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Splatterhouse, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 etc.
2013) Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, Devil may Cry, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Bayonetta 2 and there could be more confirmed at a later date.
Simply, I think GOW inspires developers to create something of the same ilk upon its release, and in doing so it causes launch windows to coincide. I think that most of the competition would prefer not to compete directly with perhaps the biggest name in H&S if they could avoid it.
I'd like to see the comparison, you only showed the games released on the same year as a GOW game. So that basically doesn't mean much because it isn't a comparison.
