HDMI Optical kit??? The 360 = Sega\CD\32X Blah blah blah keep buying stuff to build the ultimate 360! Which ends up looking like a jumbled Power-Ranger game system with add on's all over your AV rack. Thank god the PS3 has everything 1 one box. You guys are getting nickel and dimed for everything.
lol... it's called follow the leader
Man i swear M$ are hypocrites. First they say that HDMI isnt needed then Bam they made it for 3fixme.Then they added a hddvd player as a add on. I swear they are trying to copy playstation.
@Dann7978 what are you saying? I can't play video games without HDMI? I have 3 xbox 360... funny... I'm using components for one of them... HDMI for another and VGA.... weird... I am not getting any errors that say, "Sorry to play this game you NEED HDMI..." so, can you be more specific about "NEEDING" HDMI to play games? HDMI nice to have but honesly... I dont really see a difference between any of the wires... same to me... You are just mad because Microsoft released it... but wait.. Microsoft is not the only "hypocrites"... last time I checked Sony is bringing back rumble.. which they said it was "Last Gen"... oops... maybe it could just be... reacting to the consumer demand... which every company does.. stop ranting..

Microsoft copies from every one man.Microsoft wishes they could be sony. And why im not mad cause it cant do true 1080p cause if you guys didnt rush your console to beat sony probably you have the same feature as us.
funny sh!t. When 99.9% of 360 mltiplatform games look better with Burnout the only one that's equal on both systems. (PS#3 gimped 360) How's your True HD doing?
Not my fault wil4hire has nothing to do till his install is complete.
Actually kinda cool for MadCatz to make this for early adopters. My question is, why didn't Microsoft already make one themselves?
If Microsoft makes one then you have no incentive to upgrade your console.
I still say that's bollocks. M$ should care enough about the people who bought the early 360s . . . the people responsible for the 360's present dominance, to give them this option and not tell them, "You want HDMI? Buy a new 360."
That's the cost of being an early adopter, "usually" higher prices and lesser features in exchange for having the product before the masses.
Wow, a video of the unboxing process! Amazing! Let me go shoot some video of me opening my mail now and post it up...probably be just as interesting.
how fast can we expect you to upload this intriguing video you are talking about? XD
Well, I already opened today's mail. Hopefully tomorrow the electric bill or cable bill comes! Stay tuned!
I think this one was the one that was suppose to be the "good" one that is actually small and not that big black/blue boxes with cables all over the place surprisingly this one looks almost official (due to the color/design scheme) and if I remember correctly it was announced with a pretty expensive price but apparently they didn't mention it included both a high quality HDMI and Optical cable (that was a pretty heavy shielded HDMI one) which is a SUPER addition and finally if I am not mistaken this one compared to the other ones did managed to do 1080p
i don't think price would matter too much seeing as non-elite owners have no other alternative to get HDMI. does it really output 1080p though?
The Pro model also has HDMI out, for about $100 cheaper than the elite.
And the ARCADE model.
HDMI on them, its only the people who bought an Xbox 360 before the Arcade SKU came out (without including the Elite SKU) that dont have HDMI
and I have 1080P already via a VGA cable. You can also do an optical cable for digital surround, so I don't see the huge advantage of this.
actually you're right. why would anyone buy this then. nothing wrong with component. it does HD.
There's really no point in even running a 360 at 1080p, as there are only 2-3 games that natively support it, all it does is upscale the other stuff, which doesn't really make a difference, especially on a TV that's 40 inches and under.
so this product is just a scam for the uninformed.
Not completely. Some people have their 360 upconverting SD-DVDs and the only option on the older(non-HDMI) models is to use a VGA cable which virtually no new HDTV has anymore. If I upgraded to a TV that only has HDMI inputs, then this would be a great option.
Yes, for the uninformed using VGA versus HDMI is really no big advantage in image quality, especially in this case. Basically, the 360 renders the image digitally, then converts it to analog to send it off to the TV via VGA. Now, it is converting that analog signal back to digital to send off to the TV. Now, that is an extra conversion process, and everytime that happens the image will degrade slightly. Whether anyone will notice it is another question entirely. Now, for those who do not have VGA on their TVs, have an older 360 and don't want to use componenent (I know at least on my TV it makes a difference b/w VGA and component, on others I can't tell the difference), then this is a decent investment, albeit a pricy one, but no more pricy then the individual cables they try to sell you at best buy. Plus, you get upconversion in the process.
MadCatz isn't really reliable for any product really.
I wouldn't say everything. Although I did have a nice set of Mad Catz component cables for my original Xbox that when I unhooked them from my television, they pulled out the entire jacks from the back of my TV.
To me it seems useless I have a launch system set to 1080p with the component wires and looks fine to me. you can get 1080p with the component wires so spending 90 bucks on this seems stupid to me you can use that money to buy two used games.Plus the system was made to do 1080p with the component wires.Microsoft just put an hdmi output on the new systems so sony couldn't brage there system only haves it don't buy its a waste of time I hope when he does his review he shows the system using component and hdmi on 1080p so you can see there is no differenc.Plus in time hdmi cables lose to strenth signal unlike component wires
Component cable will not output to 1080p. Your most likly at 1080i. Only way to get 1080p is HDMI or VGA and VGA is not digital.
It is possible to get 1080p through compomnent its not a true signal because its converted but it is 1080p I have an info button on my tv to tell you the resolution and when you set the 360 to 1080p it shows up on my tv plus you can see the difference when switching back to 1080i. if you want i can take a picture of my screen so you can see it is 1080p a box comes on the screen with the saying 1080p
The 360 can output 1080p via componenent, to that there is no doubt. However, many television sets cannot accept 1080p via component, only VGA/DVI/HDMI work. Heck, even some older 1080p sets cannot accept any 1080p signals from any source. The screen may be 1080p, but everything has to be converted first. Weird eh? However, the only way to get 1080p out of HD-DVD movies is via a VGA or HDMI cable (you can still get 720p and 1080i though via component). Also, these are the only ways to upconvert DVD movies into HD resolutions is via the VGA or HDMI cables. Something about the equipment required to record VGA being too expensive to worry about people pirating movies this way, so they let it slide with this analog format, even if it has no HDCP at all. HDMI does. Even though the movies are not HD and don't have HDCP programmed into them anyway... It's some sort of bureaucratic mumbo jumbo at this point.
You are VERY VERY WRONG .. JOEFW hit it bang on the money in his comment. Component is MORE THAN CAPABLE of doing 1080p Do some research and then speak on the topic. Some HDTV makes (Sony) "LIMIT" what THEIR TV will accept over component (in Sony case .. 1080i) but that is NOT a limitation of the component cable. My Sammy accept 1080p over HDMI, Component and a full 1920x1080 over VGA. VIVA La Samsung
I had my early model 360 hook up to a nice 27' lcd samsung with component cables and it look good, but then i got the VGA cable and now it looks better, so now i wonder if the HDMI conversion makes my 360 look the best. let me know if someone its using the hdmi after using the vga cable and if theres a diffrence or not.
You probably won't notice anything much in difference. The original analog VGA picture, that will be converted to HDMI digital, is the best that the picture will ever look. Once you start converting back and forth, the image quality will start to degrade. How much, however, is another question. Your TV may do better images with HDMI then with VGA, so even the conversion process might be worth it. Depends on a lot of factors. However, in general, constantly converting back and forth between format is usually never a good thing. Consider this process for what happens as the signal travels in these three different cases. Via VGA/component 1) 360 renders digital image 2) 360 converts that into analog image, Television takes that analog signal and displays it **3) Some television sets may convert that data into a digital signal first before displaying Via HDMI (native) 1) 360 renders digital image, TV uses that digital signal **2) television may convert that digital signal into an analog format internally (yes, it does happen, even on "digital panels") Via HDMI (Madcatz) 1) 360 renders digital image 2) 360 converts it to analog 3) MadCatz adaptor converts that to digital signal, television will display that image **4) television may convert that digital signal into an analog format internally again The MadCatz converter may have up to 4 image conversion processes. Not usually very good.
well now no one can say it couldnt be done, ms said it would happen and it did, all xbox can do hdmi, even if its not real hdmi as mnay claim at least you can use hdmi if you got an older system.
seems, pretty pointless to me, xbox360's without the same scaler chip as the elite and arcade won't output a digital signal anyway, with hdmi the advantage is that it can support high rates of digital data transfer. If the original xbox only out puts analogue then how dos this convert it to digital? more conversion and connections just means degrading picture quality. but i suppose if you have a connection left for hdmi then, this is a good option to free up that component input on the tv.
I see a lot of reason why this will come in handy. Of course you can output 1080p from the 360 in numerous ways (which is another + for the 360) via component, vga. But the advantage with this add on is to eliminate clutter. We all know how messy all those wires are particularly the big bulky vga and component wires for the 360. I have both and they take up a lot of space, are stiff and really have a hard time fitting them in wall of my Home Theater. The Hdmi solves all that for me and Im sure for everyone else. Worth the 90 bucks? Not particularly, but Ill pay to clean things up. As someone said that's the price of early adoption.
Well looks like those with older 360 are now covered. Bet that pisses some PS3 fans off, that just took away one of their arguments. Oh well Droids you still have uh... and... (sounds of crickets) you uh... (sounds of crickets) can... uh... argue... (shut these crickets up) well you can always dream of good things like when you dreamed that 10 million was sold and not shipped. XD
MS reports shipped as well. Sony changed their reports to actually sold. Just so you know, its in their fiscal reports. Which they cant lie about. Self Owned once again.
It was shipped when MS said it and it's shipped with Sony. Dude how freaking stupid are you? Wait "wil4hire" nevermind that explains it. "Thank god the PS3 has everything 1 one box. You guys are getting nickel and dimed for everything." (HDMI or Component cable sold separately) http://www.amazon.com/PlayS... Yup sure has everything in one box. Now take your ass on down to walmart and pick up your stupid sign before they run out.
This takes care of those older models :) Next argument please.
Don't forget Microsoft said 1080p wasn't needed & No game would ever do 1080p with 60fps guess what they was wrong also. This is a trend that Microsoft has followed but there games isn't true 1080p its upscaled.
these consoles cant handle them next generation they will
You can count the 360 titles that are native 1080p on one hand...the PS3 has significantly more...but most are just smaller arcade games like Calling All Cars, etc... there are games on both systems that are native 1080p...but the norm is usually around 720p...
This just add to the cost of features PS3 owners always had.But people say the PS3 cost to much they really need to do some math.
You mean like buying cables that Sony didn't put in the box to keep the price down or early adopters not getting rumble? (HDMI or Component cable sold separately) http://www.amazon.com/PlayS... Dude you should have stayed in bed this mourning. One more, how about that switching low end SKUs with the 40gb and no BC? LOL at least the Arcade version of the 360 can be upgraded for BC. What was that about my math?
do the math if you where to add up all the attachments of a 360 it is the same price as a ps3.and I'm not talking about know I mean when the systems first lauched prices ps3 600.360 system(400)-hd dvd(179)online service 50 a year but dont get me wrong its better then sony's online service.plug and play kit 20dollars -wifi 100 dollars.microsoft just did the trick of seperating everthing to make the system itself seem cheaper when in fact it was more exspensive at launch.great marketeing by microsoft if you ask me
I have a 40 inch 720p tv. Is there any reason why I would want to upgrade to HDMI?
Hmmm, no. 720p will work fine via component. Assuming you have a newer model with HDMI already, there is no real reason to use it other then to eliminate cables in that back of your TV. If you have a free VGA port on your TV, VGA should be considered since it allows you to up convert DVD movies to HD resolutions. Not a big deal really. Some TVs also produce better images via VGA, some produce worse. But in your case, I wouldn't spend money on this adaptor.
i cant belive how low tech the 360 is.this 360 is a notch above the ps2.i wouldnt own one if you gave it to me.ever option it has is hooked up on the outside.the ps3 everything is included when you buy it and its all inside the ps3.the ps3 is so clean.PS3 FTW!!!!
Is it just me or does anyone not realize that madcatz is the cheapy version of what ever product they sell....? nice going 360
From my hdmi understanding, hdmi cables are specifically for HDTV's that can support the best that is 1080P. If you have a tv that supports underneath 1080p, i dont think hdmi cables will even connect to the back of your tv.
i just bought this kit about a week ago. the converter is real nice BUT the hdmi cable provided by madcatz REALLY SUCKS. i had a monster hdmi cable and the picture quality was great with it. I still wonder if elites or new 360's with inbuilt hdmi have better picture quality than the ones with the converter kits ???
I have 1080p Sony hdmi and to tell you the truth, i prefer the HD component cable for the 360 rather than the hdmi. I dunno, hdmi didnt look as good. Does anyone know why that would be?
Seems like a really great solution for early 360 adopters.
if your talking about not noticing a difference in the PS3 with hdmi cables, try adjusting your playstation to hdmi setting through the setting menu. some experts claim that 360s graphics are better by just simply connecting cables and they dont bother adjusting the settings to get the REAL 1080P
