PS3 sales rocket 138 percent as 'Super Slim' hits shelves

Sales of Sony's PlayStation 3 have rocketed 138 percent in the UK with the arrival of the revised PS3 hardware known as the ' PS3 Super Slim'.

Glad to see there's still huge demand for the console. In its seventh year it'll still be getting exclusives like The Last of Us, Ni no Kuni, Sly Cooper 4, Yakuza 5, GoW Ascension and Beyond, so now's the time to get one if ever.

138%. So thats a % of what? 1000? 50,000? doesn't mean much and I would hardly say its a rocket if the new model was 37% of units. Numbers pls for a meaningful view.

I suspect that a lot of these sales are second machines and collectors a bit like when the S model xbox launched. Mine was a second machine.

I wondered that myself. I would suspect that sales of the console the week before the super-slim was released would be near zero. People would either wait a week for the new console or wait to see if the current model would drop in price.

Not to mention, with the more simplified hardware at the same price (but with some amazing games bundled in), Sony is turning a pretty good profit on each system. So, where are the Xbots that just love profit margin at, now?
