"As this console cycle comes to a close I reminisce about the most disappointing game I’ve experienced this generation. Read about this dreadful tale word by word as I drink my late-night coffee in woe." - FirstDropShow.com
Biggest video game disappointment for me has got to be KZ3. I can't stress that enough.
Mine is Uncharted 2. The first game was great but the second one was disappointing because it was the same as the first one but with a larger budget, and so many fools are blinded by the production values to see otherwise.
Sorry but no matter how you say it that is total BS.No one is blinded by anything.UC2 was a great game and hundreds of reviews, gamers and awards say otherwise. You can call it whatever you want and call every one a fool but your argument is weak in the face of all the evidence. I played UC2's MP and it was the first one I have ever enjoyed in years. Sorry if you are going to hate on UC2 you are going to have to come up with something better then 'everyone is a fool but me'
are you drugged how can you say that about uncharted 2 it was amazing
... has to be to see series like Pro Evolution Soccer and Final Fantasy just falling completely from grace. Last gen, Pro Evo was amazing, with PES 4/5 and perhaps also 6. After that, it just all went to crap, and FIFA dove in and produced a great alternative that has improved almost every year, since FIFA09. Final Fantasy: Well, that's pretty clear, right!? The new games have been very disappointing. Also, with no option for the original voices, why even bother anyway!? Ninja Gaiden 3 also deserves to be mentioned. The new Team Ninja is absolutely CRAP.
Dude..Uncharted 2 is probably the best game from this gen...it's not even because of the graphics although those are beautiful. Every little facet of combat feels ridiculously visceral and fun. The game is crafted to be just the right amount of challenging. Multiplayer is addicting and novel. Don't you dare say it was the same as the first one...the fact MP exists proves you wrong instantantly by fact. Battles are bigger, enemies are scarier and the story has a way about it that makes it so watchable. The 6 people who agreed with you are most likely xbox fanboys...hey toolbags..Halo Reach> Halo 3. Boom.
Uncharted 2 is one of the Best games this Gen and probably the best under its genre. You cant really nitpick the story was good, voice acting was amazing, multiplayer was a fun bonus etc.
Yeah, I've had people say this before which makes no sense whatsoever to me. I don't get how UC2 can be worse than the original when it improves on every single thing the original does and on top of that adds new things to the game. UC2 is definitely one the best games to come out this entire gen.
There are many far worse contenders out there. Maybe your expectations were too high.
People always start the comments to these articals w/ games like that. IMO when it comes to disappointing the fans of the franchise. Ninja Gaiden 3 is the winner for this generation so far.
It's a personal opinion. Yeah there are probably far worse contenders, but my expectation of those games weren't as high as compared to KZ3. KZ2's formula was near perfection and KZ3 went the complete opposite direction of it with a dumbed-down CoDification game.
@Outside_ofthe_Box Fair enough, they did dumb it down for the "wider audience"
Sorry KZ3 was awesome in my opinion
agree with u man , it was kinda disappointing !
Kz3 is boss! And I think kz2 is better. But 3 is still badass!
For me its all about Final fantasy 13, what a disappointing game
Noooooo shut up..it plays beautifully and has amazing graphics..yeah the story was meh and the environments left a a lot to be wanted but it's not a disappointment, GG just needs to up their game next time
Totally agree with this. I still have Crackdown 2 on the game shelf next to the first one, but the problem was that Microsoft dropped the ball by not doing more with Crackdown sooner and then, basically, released an expansion pack about 3 years down the line. In true honesty, what disappointed me the most about Crackdown 2 is how it didn't better Prototype. It had near enough a full year to improve upon what Prototype excelled at and the same amount of time to make traversing around the city as much fun as Infamous such as grinding lines. But it didn't. In fact, it did nothing better than both of those games, and removing the gangs and clans for generic zombie freaks? Ridiculous. There was no real feel of level progression or experience throughout the whole game and the cars didn't transform as well. I still have hope for the Crackdown franchise, but seriously. It's got to be so much better than this and no stupidly detailed CG trailers on announcement.
I actually preferred the traversal in crackdown than prototype. IMHO I think it goes; Infamous > Crackdown > Prototype. Crackdown 2 was a MAJOR let down. It was development hell. They basically were given 2 or 3 years to make a sequel, then about a year before release they had to scrape together the old Crackdown tech and try to make a decent game. In many ways it was a downgrade from Crackdown 1 as you said. I hope they can make an awesome Crackdown 3 or something, as the first was one of the best games early gen. It's kind of weird that Microsoft let that happen though. Fair enough for a small publisher to rush out a game, but they should have known better. Now I am forever dreaming of a better Crackdown, a true successor. Fingers crossed :)
Com'on guys....ME3 by faaaaar. Maybe not the entire game - the game itself was great - but you gotta admit that some of the other stuff contributed to disappointment and something that could've been better. And by that I don't just mean the ending.
I find it weird how they made the Reapers these kind of terrifying all consuming unstoppable gods in the first 2 games to these mindless insects just leeching onto everything at the background of missions.
ME3 was a complete mess and in my opinion they kind of messed it up the moment they didn't know what to do with the whole spector part of the story. ME for me has been the biggest letdown this gen, only because I had such high hopes for it.
Yeah, they changed the entire plot for ME3, which also pissed all over ME2. Due to the story being leaked(quite sad really)
I thought the game was awesome. Sure, the ending wasn't what I was hoping for but it certainly didn't make the WHOLE game bad. Just the ending was a little disappointing. There have been far more disappointing games. Keep in mind that this is only MY opinion.
Alright, What about Haze? Hmmm? That game was and will always be the worst title this generation.
thats funny you say that i completely forget about being excited for haze until it came out and the thought of buying it didnt even cross my mind after
lol, yeah man HAZE was god awful. I too was excited for it till i got my hands on it....that game quite frankly a huge let down. OHH had to edit my post since LAIR although a bit clunky the game was great!.
Lol Haze. I actually had a blast with that game. One of the TV ad's was hilarious. The voice acting was so bad lol. EDIT : Found it; It is only a 30 second tv ad, but it was pretty amazing back then. http://www.youtube.com/watc... It is not what me and my brother were expecting, but I remember staying up all night drinking Dr Pepper and getting sick off old Doritos we found lying around. For that reason, I loved Haze. It was so bad it was good. I want to re-live that moment, maybe on my holidays (only get 2 weeks a year :( )
Amy disagrees. Quantum Theory agrees with Amy.
Saints row the third. Im a big fan of that franchise but they totally fucked up the third game in my opinion. The story was hsit compared to the first two especially 2 and they didnt even continue from where 2 left off. Saints Row fans know what I am talking about. Also the game just wasn't as fun as the second one. There was less side missions, very little things to explore, and the city steelport sucked compared to stilwater
Sonic 06 No sequel to prince of Persia 08(cliffhanger ending)
Its not like Crackdown 2 was a terrible game, they actually added a ton of fun online modes. It just wasn't a huge departure from the first game. I enjoyed it, usually "disappointing" games are games that are bad or broken. Ninja Gaiden 3 for example is a disappointment for me personally. Lair, Haze and Too Human were disappointments as well. Heck, you can be disappointed with a game and still enjoy it. Batman Arkham City was like that for me, I liked the game, but found it short and thought Rocksteady threw every Batman villain in the game simply for awe factor, most of those villains should have gotten their own game, it just seemed convoluted to me.
biggest disappointment: not releasing a good socom game/ socom hd in my opinion.. still waiting!
GTA IV .. Then again, the entire GTA series is crap. Quantum Theory is better than GTA IV.
Gears3 was definitely disappointing!! Ruined the franchise for me, man and I thought gears2 was bad but it was amazing when compared to gears3!! I was a huge gears fan til the third.
I love my xbox 360 but I agree that crackdown 2 just flat-out disappointed me in every possible way.
Killzone 3 was a huge letdown for me. Loved part 2 though.
I am disappointed that the writer completely neglects to mention the fact that Microsoft sat on their ass for a year waiting for Realtime Worlds to decide whether they wanted to make Crackdown 2 or not. After a year, they decided to make All Points Bulletin instead and that failed miserably and bankrupted them. So Microsoft gave Ruffian Games, a brand new studio, a sequel to a smash hit for their first game and only two years to make it. Yes, it was a huge disappoint. No, you cannot blame Ruffian Games for being inexperienced and put on such an unrealistic time constraint. If you want to point the finger, point it at Micro$oft.
