Corvo, the main character, had many powers unlocked and upgraded, giving players a taste of the various ways available to complete the mission at hand. The objective was to infiltrate the house of a man named Sokolov and kidnap him, bringing him to a pre-arranged location. This could be done through stealth or brutal action.
It was obvious from early on that a number of paths presented themselves whilst traversing the streets: I could teleport my way around, bypassing the guards; I could sneak up behind them and kill them one by one; I could release the doors on a nearby holding cell to create a distraction, or simply pull out my sword and start massacring everyone.
