The Winter Wolves Android developer account has been shut down by Google, leading the adult game dev to abandon mobile development entirely.
Google's been laying down the ban hammer, or restricting approvals for about a year now over some of the most nonsensical things imaginable. It's not even nudity ,or anywhere close to the kind of content of what we've seen from some of Sony's censorship, and Google just says no. Things like cleavage or too much leg being shown.
This censorship is scary. I'm an artist and a lot of my work is adult so seeing cleavage and bikinis censored is seriously concerning. I decided to finally take the plunge and get a gaming PC and just get away from consoles and mobile gaming.
So much of my inspiration came from game art (I even went to college for game art and design!) so it deeply saddens me to see so much hostility to even mildly sexy art in gaming.
It's most likely related to the ads.
Google is trying to "clean" their store in a attemp to make it more "advertiser friendly". They already did something similar in Youtube where they single out the gaming portion of the platform from ads.
Man is almost like mobile platforms are trash to navigate, aren't worth developing for and are filled with more shovelware than all other platforms combined. Whoda thunk it?
That is not good. Not for the consumers and definitely not for the developers. The consumers lose a way to play their games and the developer lose a source of revenue (12% of their total in this case).
Also most of their game are already on PC, a big chunk of their mobile offers were just ports from the PC.
We may have a man in mars on a decade, but show a half boob and everyone goes crazy, it's like a victorian society with advanced tech.
