Skyrim: 4 Reasons PS3 Players Should Keep Faith With Bethesda

Joseph Dempsey:

Shortly after earning the title of “best game of the year” at the Game Developers Choice Awards 2012 in March, Bethesda announced Dawnguard, its first expansion pack for Skyrim, much to the delight of fans everywhere.

All, it seemed, was going well for Bethesda and its fans. Skyrim had been released to raving reviews, and gamers all across the world were busy clocking up hundreds of hours evolving their chosen characters. (Bethesda Softworks, PS3, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim)

Their track record doesn't scream "keep the faith", It's screams Bethesda can go eat a shit sandwich.

Exactly, PS3 users should rent their games from now on or just buy it used. Until they get their act together and make their games work well on Sony systems. Then we will support them.

Skyrim ran fine for me on my PS3, hence why I got the platinum, yeah I had a couple minor glitches, little frame rate drop, NOTHING game breaking, but ill be called a liar

I wasnt planning on buying the dlc anyway, ill wait for GOTY (like I did with Fallout)

So as long as its fixed by then, Ive still got trust in Bethseda, I cant wait for Fallout 4

100 other reason they shoudlnt

Like Hellsvacancy, I also had few problems with Skyrim on my PS3, and I also get called a liar on here when I say so. I'm just not interested in any DLC for Skyrim because I got tired of it months ago, even though I still have lots of unfinished business I could work on.

Lol nobody should have faith in Bethesda.
Skyrim was a terrible game. Bugs, cliche story, bland world, boring combat, flawed levelling system, tedious dragon battles, fetch quests ect...
darkride66  +   567d ago
Add me to the list of people who had zero issues with Skyrim on my PS3. That game was an absolute masterpiece and one of my top games this gen, right up there with Fallout 3, another game I played through on the PS3 without issue aside from maybe 2 or 3 freezes.

It makes me shudder to think of those out there foolish enough to buy into the internet hate. I've had so many great gaming experiences this gen that I would have completely missed out on if I had listened to the complainers online.

I'll buy Bethesda games any day of the week. They've given me hundreds of the best gaming hours this gen.

Yeah, Skyrim is great on PC. If you're a PS3 fan forget it. It won game of the year for PC not PS3. What like other developers don't also come out with DLC? At least other devs are talented enough not to release a game so glitched and bug filled you would think even spraying some Raid couldn't get rid of them all.
brodychet  +   567d ago
HA! I honestly used to love Bethesda, but they've really messed up:/

As with the other users I never came across many issues which really annoyed me. A few frame dips is about as annoying as it got. However, I have no intention of getting DLC (I don't get DLC on any game), I got the game at a nice discount right after launch and I enjoyed the experience.

Just because I didn't experience problems doesn't change the fact that 1. a majority of users have, 2. the PS3 users got the short end of the stick and 3. even though I don't want the DLC the option for it isn't there because they don't know how to do their jobs.

This is not a developer worthy of my money, so I will be very careful with them in the future. Bethesda and Capcom are the 2 developers on my list.

I bought Skyrim as a Buy 1 get 1 half off from Amazon about 3 days after release....
But I didn't actually play the game until February.

I don't know what changed between launch and February, but I haven't experienced any problems.

Perhaps that's just me.

Yes,keep spending $60 on broken Bethesda games.
rpd123  +   567d ago
I have it for 360 and even I know that PS3 users shouldn't keep faith in Bethesda. The game they released on PS3 is completely unacceptable.
nihonlight  +   567d ago
Exactly this. A game that was rushed in a quick cash grab to meet 11/11/11.
It should have been 12/12/12

Number 4 seems like a slap in the face in a way. They are releasing additional content but can we get it..?
Kenshin_BATT0USAI  +   567d ago
These were terrible reason LMAO.

One of the reasons was actually DLC. How can that even be a reason given that the lack of it is the issue currently...?

That being said, I do like all of Bethesda's games. So I'll just get them on PC instead.

maybe they should of gotten 4J Studios to make the PS3 version since the Oblivion (PS3) ran better at one point.

4 reasons to boycott Bethesda

1.Lied about ps3 performance and released an alpha game(even withheld review copies)
2. 7 patches that have done nothing to improve the game.
3. Silence regarding dlc (so dishonored sales won't hurt)
4 Constantly releasing bug filled games. No standards of quality.

Using the ps3 architecture as a cop out excuse when other open world games that are OPTIMIZED work fine. No crashes no lag.
They gave us an alpha stage game with NO testing and said "patch it later"

I swear i have different skyrim version.
125 h on save , no problems, runs good, initial loading takes time though .
Overall had 4,5 freezes on loading total.

I dont know about dlc
OmniSlashPT  +   567d ago
Same with me, only had 2 freezes that stopped me from playing, then some lag, but nothing game breaking. Loadings time are pretty terrible, but I got used to it. It still has a lot of bugs and glitches which can fuck up missions, but that's just awful game design and bad QA.
WeskerChildReborned  +   567d ago
I sold my copy of Skyrim for PS3 so i could just get it on PC.
isarai  +   567d ago
Seriously, such a huge studio with that long of experience should have figured this shit outby now. I mean it's been 6 years for fucks sake and everyone else has figured it out, but not bethesda?
Happy to hear I am not the only one that thinks that this game is really boring and overestimated.

I borrowed the game from a friend, it's from Fallout 3 that I decided to not buy any game from Bethesda. it showed to be the right decision.

I liked skyrim because of the environent and exploring. The fighting and story did
kind of suck. The gameplay could ha e used a lot more polish. It might be the consoles more than anything though. But it is still a good game to immerse yourself in to kill time when there isnt anything else to play.
darkgod  +   566d ago
id theres noting to play play poyo pop or tetris :p
darkgod  +   566d ago
fix the art, combat, animations, gliches, and voice acting and maybe this game would be playable to me
