Codemasters On F1 2012 And The Challenge Of Innovating In An Annual Series

EDGE- We spoke with F1 2012 creative director Stephen Hood about the difficulties of innovating in an annual series, how you go about balancing the needs of new players with old hands and why the real sport is getting more like a videogame with each year that passes. (F1 2012, PC, PS3, Stephen Hood, Xbox 360)

As good as the F1 games are I don't think we need a new game every year. Just have one and have a upgrade package every year. It looks the same as last years game.

That's just the same as any Sports game but each year is a change for the game to improve and add new date and extras to the game.

I really like F1 2010 but I could not get into 11 for some reason. Im going to give 12 a go though as I really enjoy watching F1.

As long as they keep adding needed adjustments (like they have each yr) then I want an F1 game every year. I would like them to add a little more presentation to next yrs game, but iv loved each game they've released so far. F1 2012 has been great so far
