Segment Next Borderlands 2 Review – A Medication For Depression
Will Benson of SegmentNext writes: "Borderlands 2 is more of an interactive comedy, than it is a game, but in that regard, it delivers better than any comedic medium out there. The only question is, does it warrant your 60 dollars?"
(Borderlands 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)
8/10
So a game that has the depth of an RPG, sports bazillion guns, and massive open spaces as big as any sandbox game out there, all of that was despised somehow so you could preferably call it an interactive comedy?
I cannot really think of anything close... Max Payne 3 was solid but at times I forget that I played it this year and Mass Effect 3 blew its chances for reasons I'll just leave unsaid.
The cloest game for me has been the XBLA title, "Mark of the Ninja" but as amazing as it is its hard to compare a 15 dollar game vs a 60 dollar game.
His negatives arent that bad. He must have hated skyrim as well. Because his complaints could have been directly applied to that game as well. I enjoyed both. Skyrim and BL2. Skyrim has more depth but borderlands is great because of the writing and looting. Its a great shooter as well. Sometimes i get overwhelmed with the amount of guns... but thats kind of the point in BL2
While my time playing Borderlands 2 has been limited due to work and reviewing other games, I must say that from the 10 or so hours I have put into it, it is definitely a GOTY contender... maybe top 3 on that list for 2012.
