Kotaku - The Wii U won't play GameCube discs. But it will play the Virtual Console, Nintendo's online shop that lets you buy games from old consoles like the Super Nintendo and N64.
Gotta have my Mario Sunshine. Ain't no Sunshine if it's gone..lol.
I actually really enjoyed that game, it got a bad rep but I thought it was brilliant if a little hard at times. Gamecube was an amazing console possibly my favourite Nintendo console. Hated the Wii though and I'm hoping the Wii U ends up more like the N64-Gamecube days.
... which I believe should be technically very possible, considering the Wii U is technically backwards compatible with the Wii, which was already very simular (and backwards compatible) with the Cube... I already paid for these games, and now I should have to buy them AGAIN!? While it's technically 100% possible to make the system backwards compatible!? It's ridiculous.
@Yi-long If you really want to make a reliable source of library where such companies cant influence your games, i would strongly suggest you buy you games on the PC. As for the Game cube and the Wii, i suggest you download the ISO on the PC and emulate the games. A mid range PC can easily do this. The games will be for yours to keep forever. I dont support piracy however i do think console companies are being rediculous by making such moves. I anticipate even the PS3 and Xbox 360 games wont be compatible next gen. Which is why i would support buying all multiplats on the PC atleast that way you have some gaurantee that no one can take your games away. Now i know i am going to get flamed for this however going PC is about the only way you can reliably make a library, i personally have over 150 games on my steam list, not a worry in the world about them not working when the next gen arrives.
Nice Eagle21 however the majority of people on this site won't get that play on words from that amazing song ;-)
I love Al Green.
They really need to do a windwaker on wiiu,i dont see they dont do this.3ds is almost like a wii graphic wise so it could run these games...
Wind Waker was way too easy. I reached the final dungeon without once seeing a game over screen. If they bring to 3ds, they should bump up difficulty so its more like Ocarina of Time.
The Nintendo Gamecube entertainment system AAA quality offering that I would appreciate the most would be Skies Of Arcadia. Every once in a great while, us gamers are blessed with a top notch JRPG experience. Many many moons ago on the Sega Dreamcast R.I.P the world had 1st witnessed Skies Of Arcadia. Which at the time was a Sega Dreamcast R.I.P exclusive offering. Once the Sega Dreamcast R.I.P was sent much too early in its life to the dark underworld of unfortunate gaming consoles. Sega did the world a great honor by porting over said AAA quality classic to the Nintendo Gamecube entertainment system. And the rest was history. All I can do now is pray to Lord Miyamoto that Sega and Nintendo collaborate, and do whats right by gamers. Bless us once more with a downloadable Skies Of Arcadia Classic update. I would cry tears of joy as my credit card would be attacked with this day one much deserving Elite purchase. The Legend Of Zelda Wind Waker would be my second choice. I hold that game in very high regards as the greatest Zelda title I have ever experienced. Rated E For Everyone
That would be awesome!!!
I will buy Wind Waker if it comes out on Wii U. I only played it once a while back. I definitely want to play it again. Do we know if it's possible to play games like that on the Wii U gamepad? If so, that would be amazing.
not an exclusive but number 1 on everybodys list should be a HD remake of timesplitters 2.
I bought a gamecube like 2 years ago pretty much brand new at Gamestop. The Black one too with brand new controller ! $30.. Bought Super Smash Melee, Time splitters 2, Mario Golf, Fire Emblem ( which I still need to play ), and recently Wind Waker ( which I still need to beat..on 3rd dungeon ) Was a great investment, but also made me realize that with most of these games they were more fun because I played them with friends, so yea online play via these being downloads would be awesome. I would then get to finally play skies or arcadia then.
hopefully it upscales the games with a choice of filters, resolutions, etc.
my list: luigi's mansion metroid prime 1 & 2 viewtiful joe 1 & 2 killer 7 XIII def jam fight for n.y eternal darkness geist terminator: redemption resident evil remake & zero mgs: the twin snakes mario sunshine zelda ww & tp beyond good & evil (or hd ver) starfox adventures timesplitters: future perfect pikmin 1&2 (though there's new play control on wii) CHIBI ROBO! (I really love this game) donkey kong: jungle beat (also on Wii new play control) paper mario: tyd man, I love gamecube :) Wii too actually :)
Paper Mario & Sunshine
This is one of the main reasons why I want a Wii U, so I can get all the their virtual console games and be able to play them in one console.
