Windows 8 gaming: why it's not all doom and gloom

Richard Cobbett:

Valve's Gabe Newell has dubbed it a 'catastrophe' for the PC, id Software's John Carmack has said he'd be "completely happy if it didn't exist", Stardock's Brad Wardell has slammed it as "obnoxious", "schizophrenic" and "a nightmare", and developers from Blizzard founder Rob Pardo to Minecraft creator Marcus Perrson have been openly suspicious towards it - if not actively hostile to the changes it represents.
The exact reasons for this animosity vary, from the new UI to scepticism of touch interfaces to a lack of big improvements under the hood. (Gabe Newell, PC, Valve, Windows 8)

I like Windows 7. It works for me. The Windows 8 UI feels like step backwards to me. Not just in the way you use it but also the way it looks. Sure, performance might be a bit better, but my GTX 670 handles Aero Glass just fine thank you very much. The other improvements do not matter much to me since my system is quite capable as is (SB I5 @ 4.8Ghz, 8 Gigs RAM & 240+256GB SSD). There are no must have exclusives either.

Nah, I'll just wait and see if Windows 9 corrects the mistakes in 8.
