Survey: Gamers Back Free, Ad-Supported Titles

A survey conducted by RealNetworks found that 90 percent of respondents were willing to watch video ads before and during breaks in casual games in exchange for free gameplay.

The survey, which canvassed the views of 1500 consumers playing downloadable casual titles from RealNetworks' RealGames websites, also found that 34 percent of respondents clicked on in-game advertisements to learn more about the products or services being advertised.

Nearly a third, or 31 percent of players, said that they liked watching the video ads, mainly because of the relevance of the ads to their interests or because they allow for a short break from gameplay.
