Is EA to be blamed for BioWare's poor image and the resignation of its co-founders?

DSOGaming writes: "The whole gaming industry was shocked a couple of hours ago, when BioWare announced that its co-founders were leaving the company. The reason behind Ray Muzyka’s resignation was as typical as ever. Ray stated that he wanted to move on to pursue an entirely different set of challenges. What really striked us, though, was Greg Zeschuk excuse. Greg said that he reached an unexpected point in his life where he no longer has the passion that he once did for the company, for the games, and for the challenge of creation. Was BioWare’s acquisition something that made Greg lost his desire and passion for games and his own company?"

I say yes indeed.

Although the thought that they could possibly start another company is possible.

Doubt it (it seems that they're leaving the gaming industry behind, not just BioWare)

Could be part of EA cutting a stay out of the business for so many years type of deal. Many businesses do this for territories. Its not impossible to conceive that they have done a similar proposition.

I blame EA for making Bioware dumb down their rpgs. This isn't the first time that EA ruined a quality/well respected studio.Does anybody have the list of studios EA ruined?please drop em below.

Studios? Don't know. Game series and MMOs which got worse the more EA focused attention upon or acquired them:
Ultima, Command and Conquer (Tiberium), Dead Space, Knights of the Old Republic, the Sims, Sim City, Dungeon Keeper, Battlefield, (Knights of) The Old Republic, Warhammer Online and Dragon Age. Not to mention undermining Brutal Legend.

So...people aren't allowed to retire anymore without it being blamed on EA?

They even stated they had achieved their dream job and were extremely thankful for it. :/

DragonKnight1831d ago

Well it would depend on if that statement was accurate or just PR so that they aren't sued for slander by EA. Given that EA obviously exerts pressure on all the development studios they own and have destroyed some studios already, it's not out of the realm of possibility that these men had enough and decided to leave. That said, this article also talks about BioWare's image and not just the retirement of its co-founders.

pompombrum1831d ago

Yes. Some times you have to give the big man the benefit of the doubt but EA has too many skeletons in it's closet to not point the finger. Too many great studios ruined thanks to EA.

Half responsible I'd say. They put the greed and only want money idea into Bioware's head, but now even if Bioware left EA they would still be just as brainwashed.
