10 Things Fans Miss from Saints Row’s Past

Saints Row is one of those series that has change significantly throughout the years. It is a common complaint among fans of previous game on how cheesy Saints Row: The Third was while other newer fans love the new take on the series. Fans of past installments of Saints Row love to reminisce about what the series once was and those aspect of the past titles in which they miss the most. The change from Saints Row 2 to Saints Row: The Third was major and when it’s looked at as a whole The Third almost doesn’t seem like it’s a sequel to the second addition to the series. The games in the Saints Row series all differ in so many ways and yet it still has a significant amount of fans. Although there are many fans there are also many complaints on the change in the series. So what are the top things players miss most from the past installments to the Saints Row series? Are these thing people can expect to see in Saints Row 4 or will these beloved elements be left in the dust? (PC, PS3, Saints Row, Saints Row 2, Saints Row: The Third, Xbox 360)

Saints Row The Third was ok but nothing compared to what the other two games in the series was. Too much funny not enough of the classic Saints Row feel. Its sad to see such a great series turn out to be such a huge sale-out. I miss the old Row, always will.

Agreed. Where the heck was the awesome fighting mechanics from SR2? That was one of the best parts about that game. Smooth and functional. It was replaced with that stupid QTE stuff that usually ended up getting you killed.

Yea sadly I wasn't a fan of Saints Row 3 which was my first Saints Row... =(

The third had too many set pieces and discarded too much of the fun side stuff from previous games.

Plus, the story sucked while 2 had a quite decent story. Same with characters.

And it blows my mind that they still didn't bring back the much more customizable MP3 player from SR1.

The pacing was pretty miserable, also.

And the PC version, while better optimized than 2, runs terribly. I can max out most other games no problem, but SR:third runs like crap with every fancy setting off and low details.

The best thing missing from Saints Row 3 was the online gang system of the first game. It was so fun.

This author literally read my mind or should I say the dedicated Saints Row fan bases mind. This is the exact order of things they need to bring back make right especially #1 Johnny Gat(one of the greatest characters in videogame history period) making a return in SR4

I guess I'm the only one who didn't mind the changes that were made for Saint Row: The Third. I do agree with the author's points about Johnny Gat through. Everything else was something of a non-issue for me. Voltition wanted to mix things up for the third game and I enjoyed the over -the-top nature of the game. Maybe SR 4 will combine aspects from 2 & 3 for a better game overall, but I won't complain if it will be more like 3. Also, like someone mentioned above me, the MP3 player from 1 needs to come back; it was definitely one of my favorite features of that game.
