Nintendo: Wii U Is Core Enough and It’s the Most Innovative Game System Ever Made

TIME: The Wii U launches in just two months on Nov. 18, once again pitting Nintendo’s ability to create enthralling, never-before-seen gameplay against the less intrepid, core-focused muscularity of competitors like Microsoft and Sony. Will lightning strike twice? Will the Wii U resonate with casual players? Will the system’s high-definition makeover bring core gamers back to the fold? We’ll see.

About 5 of them are me swapping retailers in an attempt to get it early

If they think that they must think ps3s were hand crafted by space aliens from the future

ronin4life2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

Maybe based on its shape and size... as it does look like a UFO.

Ok, ouch. Really, the thing looked like a Foreman Grill. And it's. not like it is a high end pc or anything... The xbox360 runs Multiplatform games better on average(when it's not breaking)

People need to lighten up...^_^;;;

That moment where you realize you actually posted a comment on the wrong story, this was meant to be on a borderlands 2 thing...

it happens man. it's all good.

I am not sure the article titles claim of "most innovative game system ever made". Off the top of my head going from cartridge to disc (I think) much more innovative than having a screen in the controller (there is probably more innovative things than the disc)

PopRocks3592281d ago

How's a format change innovative in terms of gameplay?

Studio-YaMi2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

In term of gameplay,PS-vita crossplay/Touchscreen with PS3 is practically the same idea with the Wii-U controller & the PS3 has a much better format (Bluray),so how is the Wii-U the "most innovative game system ever made" ?

Is the Wii-U a cool console ? I think that's a yes for me from what I saw,but is it as innovative as Nintendo tries to sell it ? hell NO !

PopRocks3592281d ago

You didn't even answer my question. How's a format change innovative? All formats do is add memory. The 360 uses DVDs yet they still have games that are considered 'innovative.'

As for the PS-Vita crossplay, it may be the same idea as the Wii U, I won't deny that. But don't kid yourself into thinking it will see heavy support. Sony exclusives and maybe a single third party game here or there, but because it's not an out-of-the-box experience like the Wii U it won't be supported the way Sony fans want it to be.

live2play2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

you cant argue with them

as long as any title goes to nintendo thats not "its a kiddy console" its deemed to be not true

out of the 3 game makers now, nintendo has been the one to try to push boundaries in how we play games

(im not talking about the success they had, if it worked out or not)
im talking about the fact that they try

nintendo got 2 screens for its handheld, touch gaming, implementing 3d, motion controls, now a screen in the controller (including gyros, motion sensors camera etc)

i think its hard to deny now that nintendo is the one who tries to innovate

innovation only pertains to GRAPHICS and how many polygons a character can have

but im glad people keep doubting and hating nintendo
it makes them try harder than the rest

thank you fanboys for all your haterade
it will only energize nintendo :)

ronin4life2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

The vita connectivity isn't innovative either. The gc did all that first((or dreamcast, depending on how you look at it)

The fact that it is an all in one experience IS the first of its kind, however. No one else would have done it, and it hadn't been done before... that is borderline "innovative" in my books. Not a huge shift, but perhaps just enough to matter.

zebramocha2281d ago (Edited 2281d ago )

@pop A format change can make thing alot more efficient by having more reliability, ease of use, better image quality and more space capacity, this applys for blu-ray to DVD but it is best demostrated by VHS to DVD.
@Ron the dreamcast wasn't able to play games on it's screen, people are saying it was the first to have a screen on a controller, maybe for tech reasons but gba/gamecube is not the same as the wiiu, wiiu is akin to the psp/ps3 remote play.

Your question wasn't pointed at me although I will answer it,to make great games you need space, for great video and audio rendering you need space, saying that a dated format like DVDs for the Xbox 360 gives out innovative games is something I don't understand really, kinect(although I think is piece of C***) I would call innovative, but saying that a game is innovative is beyond me..! I mean games has "features" & I think innovation is strictly based on new electronic or artistic media(that's how I think of it anyways and I could be wrong btw)..some might disagree with me,but that's how I look at it.

As for your other argument, games are still pumping for the PS-vita,here's a link to help you out :

Guess you can forget about that "it won't be supported" idea you have.

One last thing,I kind of laughed at this line you said(don't mean to offend you) :
"but because it's not an out-of-the-box experience like the Wii U"

lol...I get it that you don't have a PS-Vita,the PS-Vita WAS & IS an out-of-the-box experience, most if not all it's features are used in all of it's games(PS-Vita games) so I don't really understand what you're trying to pull with that line seriously..!

I think zebramocha answer to you was good enough for me :) !

Maybe you need glasses because I'm not trying to trash talk Nintendo,I'm just stating facts,if you want to get on the fairy train nintedo provides to you then by all mean be my guest, but there is no "hate" or "fanboyism" in what I stated about the Wii-u my dear friend.

ronin4life2281d ago

I was talking mainly about the ds style data display, not game streaming.

This is something the vita won't support at the same level as wiiu, for obvious reasons.
