Torchlight II vs Diablo III: 5 Reasons Why Torchlight II Will Be Better Than Diablo III

While Diablo 3 met critical acclaim, it was castigated by fans of the famed series. Later on, things only seemed to get worse for Diablo 3 as many development diaries began to get filled with comments of “I want a refund for Diablo III,” or “Torchlight 2 will kill Diablo 3.” The main reason for these comments, I would argue, is because the team working on Diablo 3 never worked on Diablo or Diablo 2. It was a completely new team after Blizzard North left the scene. Much of Blizzard North left to go make Torchlight, which was received very well, but far from popular.

All that said, we essentially have the original Blizzard North team working on Torchlight II. So, here’s five reasons why Torchlight II will be a whole lot better than Diablo III.

I'm tempted to try torchlight 2 but should I play torchlight 1?

Peekayboo2197d ago

you don't need to play one

If you preorder torchlight II on steam u get torchlight I free, I don't know if that deal is still on tho

Meep2197d ago (Edited 2197d ago )

On steam if you pre-purchase Torchlight 2, you get Torchlight 1 for free. So if you are interested in getting it, get it while you can. Like Peekayboo said you don't have to play the first one, as the I think the satisfaction of the game isn't really the story but the aesthetics and gameplay, but if you want more bang for your buck its a cool option and you might want to check out.

Yeah, if you head over to Steam and pre-order it you will get Torchlight free. I think that offer ends after the game releases on Thursday, so you will need to do that rather quick to take advantage of the offer. DRM would be 6, yes, but I am currently editing a specific article for DRM instead of adding it to the 5 reasons.

Do we even need a breakdown to compare? Diablo III was awful. It was a slap in the face to its very fanbase, and the "always on" DRM requirement (as zeal0us stated) was the rotting cherry on top of it all. Funny thing though, I really didn't think it was all that bad while I was playing through it, despite the fact that its shortcomings progressively revealed themselves during that time, but now almost two months later in hindsight - that's all I can say.

#1 reason - lack of interesting content.
#2 reason - lack of staying power, due to reason #1.
#3 reason - the auction house, which essentially undermined the entire basis of playing Diablo III in the first place: the loot hunt.

Sorry but torchlight can't touch the beast that is diablo. Always online feature for diablo isn't an issue for me because who the hell plays diablo alone anyway. The patches blizzard are releasing is like little expantion packs fixing every little gripe everyone has. The quality of diablo3 will not be matched by torchlight. Replayabilty of torchlight is also garbage. Torchlight 1 was pretty boring. Boring enough for me to never actually beat it. The people who are pissed at diablo are the ones complaining they can't find gear good enough to carry them through inferno. Inferno isn't suppost to be a cakewalk. Been playin since it came out and still havnt beat inferno. Lovin every minute of it. What's wrong with the auction house? It gave gold a actual value unlike diablo2. Haters gonna hate.

What's wrong with the Auction House? Well, Maelstromb said it perfectly: "#3 reason - the auction house, which essentially undermined the entire basis of playing Diablo III in the first place: the loot hunt."

Considering Diablo 3 is a huge pile of garbage, it's hard to not be better than that.
