Is the Wii U for we and you?

iTWire writes "Again we find ourselves thinking, has Nintendo shot itself in the foot, or has it yet again made a brilliantly tactical move bringing the Wii U to the market? What demographic can the Wii U carve from a public that is already familiar with HD gaming and tablet based technology?"

The story is too old to be commented.

my excitement for wiiu is almost like before the gamecube or N64 when i was a kid, nintendo look to nail it with the wiiu, the games do look good, nintendo revivng Byonetta is a great sign for core gamers and I hate to use the word "HARDCORE" cause some people think "hardcore" is being badass, in your face violence not the game design ... some might think that 50cent game is a hardcore game while mario is casual, just because of look , that is more casual than casual gamers themselves, CORE games is better term in my opinion

Therein lies the problem with the terms "hardcore", "casual", and even "Core". There is no set definition and it changes based on who you talk to and which site you are on. There are some situations where it's more convenient to use, but as soon as all those terms could be used disparagingly they became fanboy nonsense. I prefer the terms gamer and general masses, and not sure where to classify "core".

its not 4 me I grew up.

ape0071590d ago (Edited 1590d ago )

whether u grew up or not super mario galaxy 2 is one of the highest rated games of all time and respected by many game critics around the wrold, all of that on the outdated wii technology, can u imagine what nintendo gonna do with the wiiu, nobody is better than nintendo when it comes to 1st party games, let alone retro studios

Carl_Shocker1590d ago (Edited 1590d ago )

Im not saying SMG2 was crap, I loved the first one and I feel that should get the most praise but the sequel was basicaly levels they didnt get the chance to include in the first game with a few new powers...thats all, I feel its a little over rated cosidering its more or less the same from the first game.

GTA4 was rated highly by critics and most of us can agree despite being a good game it didnt live up to San Andreas

it is still a kids game. not interested. nintendo just release the same games over and again. even activision are jealous of nin's milking ability

the fact that you think age has anything to do with preference in regards to videogames shows that you have most certainly NOT grown up. At least not where it matters (maturity).

rainslacker1590d ago

I grew up too...now I can have a better paying job and not have to pester my parents to buy me games. I'm actually able to play more games now than when I was a kid.

In the past i would always buy Nintendo products because thats what my friends would get but since i have matured i usually buy products based on my wants instead of whats popular in the market. Which is why this generation i had a 360 in the beginning due to all the nice exclusives that it had early on in its life but when Microsoft went casual (Kinect) i switched to Sony and i have been happy with my PS3 ever since i got it. The reason why i am not jumping on the Wii U isnt because i dont want to play games at 1080P at 60 FPS its because i have no idea what Microsoft and Sony will do with their consoles. Which is why i am willing to wait a while to see what types of next gen systems we will get from them.

My predictions are that Microsoft will create a console based around its services while Sony will focus on the core. Nintendo like last generation will be famous for producing a family oriented console with a unique control scheme but like the Wii its specs will be vastly behind other next gen consoles.
