Discussing Capcom's actions as a developer/publisher this gen, both the good and the bad.
I would have given them 0/10 if not for Dragon's Dogma, but a lack of a numerical score helps people decide how awful Capcom is on their own scale.
Capcom used to be one of the best publishers out there back in the day, you could expect nothing but perfection in all practicality similar to Squaresoft. Where did it all turn around? I guess in those times it was the golden age for them, either that or we as gamers were lucky to have been exposed to such great publishers.
Yeah, this gen has really done a number on Japanese devs. They are following the footsteps of EA and Activision far too much and they've lost their identity. It's the fault of the idiot media that made Japanese devs believe what they were doing wasn't what we in the West wanted. Hopefully, though unlikely, Japan will reclaim it's identity in the gaming market next gen.
It all started to turn around when video game development started to mimic the development methodologies of other industries. They are just not compatible and suits have a hard time understanding that.
No matter how you look at it, the bad outweighs the good.
Very true. An entire article can be written about the bad, and not much can be said about the good. It's pretty hard to find to tell the truth.
Well there was a time when Capcom would release a solid, great game after game. Seemed like back than the customer came first more so than now or that there were a lot more gamers within the company making a better impact on the games that were released. While no publisher is perfect Capcom sure came close to it before.
To be fair, Capcom has yet to disappoint. Dragon's Dogma, Asura's Wrath, Monster Hunter, Zack Adventure, DMC 4 Street Fighter 4 AE SFXT all has been great games in my book this gen. You can say they have bad business practices, but Capcom quality has been consistently good since the NES period. They know how to make great games. The fact that they are supporting the PC is a big plus for me too. Some of you have different reasons to be angry at Capcom but you have to be fair.
