Someone’s Already Trying to Sell a Wii U on eBay. For $900.

Kotaku- Remember when the Wii launched? What were those things going for on the gray market, like $700 or something? Actually, yeah—Fahey did this analysis after the 2006 holidays and found the price, for a pre-order listing on eBay, spiked at $707, almost three times its MSRP. (That's not counting this jackhole, trying to sell one plus a PS3 for six grand. God, those were dumb days.)

I hope no-one pays that much money for any system. Just stupidity and a waste

vortis2279d ago

Well if corps can be greedy, I guess some gamers are showing that they can be just as greedy.

"I hope no-one pays that much money for any system. Just stupidity and a waste"

2006 PS3 + a few game + extra controller says HI.

I payed a little over $900 for my launch 60gb PS3 with 1 game and a 3 year bestbuy warranty.

You couldn't have waited like a month?? They were back on the shelves pretty quick.

Dasteru2278d ago

That was on the shelf lol. I got it from bestbuy.
It was even an open box display console which reduced the cost by $50.

$649 console
$59.99 game
$120 3 year extended warranty

60GB PS3 launched at $599, so you spent $50 more for an opened display model, not $50 less.

jeeves862278d ago

"...a few game..."

How many? Three? Four? Two of them would cost you over $100, plus a controller was $50.

Dasteru2278d ago

Not sure if you knew this or not but there are other countries on the planet besides the US.

In Canada where i live, the 60gb PS3 was $699 at launch.

The lowest i'm selling mine is 750 dollars

eagle212279d ago

That made me $349 sounds like a steal

guitarded772279d ago

Yeah, I already pre-ordered my personal one, but I'm gonna try to get at least one more to put on eBay for the holiday. I know there may be some that have an ethical issue with it, but if I don't do it, someone else will. It's a simple matter of supply and demand, and if people are willing to pay it to make Jr happy, them I'm willing to charge it. Hopefully it will pay for my Wii U.

Hellsvacancy2278d ago

"but if I don't do it, someone else will" that's REAL logic right there people

guitarded772278d ago

@ Hellsvacancy

Hell yeah it is... if->then... F'n logic. That's how logic works.

Do people really need money that bad that they have to do this every time a new console comes out? I tried that crap with the 360. I got ahold of 3 of them on launch day because of a buddy who worked retail. I made like $300 on them. Looking back, it was really retarded.

I sold a Wii I camped out for overnight on Ebay for $1400. That was back in December of 2006, but by selling that, I was able to buy gifts for everyone on my list.

The Robin Hood of economical bartering.

Very nice.

HammadTheBeast2278d ago

I still haven't gotten my gift. Make sure you got my address correct before mailing.

Sold a PS3 + controller and a game for $2200 that year. Bought my 56" Samsung tv with that money. Best investment ever!

Haters gonna hate.

dcortz20272279d ago

That's like nearly triple the original price lol wow, but I can't say that I am surprised. As long as people keep on buying launch consoles at ridiculous prices, then their will always be people ready to take advantage of those who are ready to splash the cash for a new console. We saw that with the PS3 and the original Wii when they first launched.
