Percentage of M-rated titles halved since 2005, What gives?

In 2007 only six percent of all rated games were given the Mature rating. In fact, the relative number of Mature-rated games seems to be declining. When compared to the 8 percent of games that received the M-rating in 2006 and the 12 percent of games receiving the rating in 2005, the 6 percent of games rated Mature in 2007 is much lower than may have been expected. In just two years, the relative number of games in the market receiving the M-rating has declined by half.
