Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 'Status Won't Change Soon' - Bethesda

NowGamer writes: Skyrim Dawnguard's troublesome journey to PS3 is well-documented, but Bethesda's issues with the DLC won't be solved via any sort of eureka moment overnight according to marketing and PR boss Pete Hines.

who cares just quit and move on, noobs.

Yeah, because it's Bethesda's fault the PS3 has a terrible amount of ram.

JellyJelly1499d ago

Yes, Bethesda are the only ones who have had trouble with multiplats on the PS3 /s

MrBeatdown1499d ago (Edited 1499d ago )

If it is so terrible, Bethesda has no excuse not to know that by now. After six or seven years developing for the PS3, three shipped games, and a slew of expansions, the amount of ram shouldn't be catching Bethesda by surprise.

You don't see other developers releasing games and DLC, then coming out and saying "oh sorry guys, we don't know how to finish the game on your platform".

MysticStrummer1499d ago

Bethesda has a long and storied history of releasing games that are best played on PC because users can fix them with mods. Consoles are left waiting for Bethesda's own patches, which may or may not fix the problem they were trying to fix and may or may not break something else. So, ok... if you like their brand of open world games you buy them anyway, knowing what you are getting into. Now they can't get DLC to work with a game that (mostly) does work (after many patches)? Give me a damn break. Of course it's their fault. This isn't a launch title on brand new unfamiliar hardware.

Irishguy951499d ago (Edited 1499d ago )

Haha. Gotta love bethesda, they suck at making games fun...never mind the technical difficulties.

If the Ps3 wasn't powerful enough for Skyrim Bethesda should have left it/ Now they just have a bunch of whiny(rightfully so) fans that want it to work and get the Dlc they promised.

Lol its very easy for people to pick on Bethesda, yet they dont realise it was Sonys fault for designing a console without taking any developers opinion.

PS3 gamers should be upset with Sony for their arrogance when designing hardware. No wonder they had no planning when designing the PS3, Sony being unable to implement simple features such as Cross game chat, or a good browser shows it was the PS3 that was poorly designed since Sony themselves cant provide simple features on it due to limitations.

No one goes around calling Sony incapable on programming when they cant provide simple features for their hardware people admit the hardware has limitations and was poorly designed. Yet when Bethesda or any other dev has problems coding for PS3 they are quickly labeled in competent unable to learn the architecture etc. While its clear the PS3 is a poorly designed piece of hardware. Which is why Sony is going for a more PC like arch next gen.

Now before i get labeled as a Xbox fan, far from it. I am a PC gamer, both the consoles disgust me, i wouldnt touch either with a 10 foot pole lol.

and your the first person to make false accusations? how come oblivion, and new vegas were vastly better on ps3 and you guys will never get the 1 hour of exclusive assassins creed dlc? 360 cant handle it!

Bethesda should just go 360/PC exclusive with the next game they clearly don't care for the Playstation crowd and I doubt they will miss them.

vickers5001499d ago

I'm primarily a playstation gamer, and I'd miss the hell out of them. Fallout 3 was one of the best games I've ever played, and had by far the best open world (in my opinion) of any console game I've ever played. I didn't play all that much of Oblivion, but what I did play I liked. I've platinum'd Skyrim on ps3 with no major issues (only like 3 or for freezes throughout the entire game and only one framerate slowdown during the dark brotherhood base destruction part of the game). Fallout New Vegas I played on PC was really fun as well.

Bethesda make amazing games, but by now, they shouldn't STILL be having such major issues. I was completely content with waiting for the skyrim ps3 dlc to be released, so long as it ran fine, but if it's true that it will never come to ps3 at all, then that is really disappointing. Hopefully they at least learned a few things from Sony during their little co-operation session on Skyrim DLC issues so that future games wont have the same problems.

Finish it then sell it while its hot, then pirate it on PC. My laptop can handle the game with the enb series mods and all that quite well.

The game isn't worth all the trouble its causing people

specialguest1499d ago (Edited 1499d ago )

That doesn't make sense at all. If you're going to be pirating it for the PC, that means you probably have a PC capable of playing Skyrim. If that's the case, then why would you buy an inferior version of Skyrim on the ps3 in the first place? lol!

For a game series that have historically been nearly broken on the PS3, no PC gamer would choose the PS3 version over the superior in all ways PC version.

chukamachine1499d ago

I have the game on PC, it's overhyped.

Oblborin was crap as well.

Most open world games are boring, no decent direction, same old boring gameplay. Kill dragon, move on. Kill dragon move on.

NYC_Gamer1499d ago

I hope PS3 users get wise and stop buying Bethesda games

N311V1499d ago

I'll certaintly be cautious in the future, this debacle won't be soon forgotten.

Clarence1499d ago

I'm buying all their games used from now on.
