The Black Mesa mod, which recreates the original Half-Life in the Source Engine, has finally been released – and you can now download it after eight years of development by its huge team.
This is why i love PC gaming. Our Modding community is amazing and We don't pay for 8 year old remakes. i will Grab this on steam when its out on there as ill be playing on modded 8v8 Left4Dead2 servers all weekend.
idd epic well done, they did great
I still never played the Half-Life games...Even when they were 75% off. Probably because there are so many different versions of them (seriously, which ones should I be playing?). I'll still try this out though.
there are two. One has two expansions. Start with Half Life 1, then Half Life 2, then the two expansions for two. There is also a deathmatch which doesn't have a whole lot to with the games at all. Then there is the Lost Coast which is basically a tech demo.
There's actually 2 full games, 2 spin-offs and 2 expansions. Half life Half life: Blue shift (Barney the security guard story from half life 2) Half life: oppose force (the story of the marines) Half life 2 Half life 2: episode 1 Half life 2: episode 2 If you have a DC you can play half life 1 and blueshift on one disc (like I did) Or half life on the ps2 which also comes with those two chicks story (like I also did) Then the orange box which comes with all the half life 2 (like I did)
Opposing Force came first, actually, and it wasn't a combined story - it was the story seen through the eyes of one of the cover-up soldiers. :-)
If anyone is struggling for a download link that works I recommend this one http://www.shacknews.com/fi...
thanks for the link. torture waiting for the download to finish though. :(
Can't wait to play this and have Barney let me out of the tram.
I am going to play this and then two to see what I have been missing.
I'll get it once it's on Steam. Should be soon enough. All the other downloads are painfully slow.
Amazing. Especially for those who missed it.
this guy.... Well I have to admit I wasn´t always a Half-life fan... For me it was no different than Doom or Quake at that time... hell I had more fun playing Duke nukem 3d When the Orange Box came out I decided to give it a try since I had already played Portal & already knew about the Cinematic Mod (7.0 at that time)... I loved it! Now I couldn´t do the same with HL1... Despite I already knew this was the game that started all, I just couldn´t go back the 90´s. I saw the videos I and told myself, there´s no way I can play that. Then Black Mesa surfaced more as a "what if" project rather than a real posibility. Now is here!!!
......I don't believe it. I just don't. 8 years of waiting and it just poops onto the internet with almost no fanfare? WHAT DA FLIP
DAMNIT, I'm at work. I wanna play really bad. It hurts my soul waiting for this. They deserved for me to take off of work to download this.
