"Amid the growing anger in the gaming community towards Bayonetta 2's Wii U exclusivity, game developer Platinum Games has released a statement responding to the fan fervor."
"As game developers, we are incredibly excited to be able to announce a new title to all of our fans" Not all those fans though are going to be able to afford a brand new console to buy the game...some people like me who are students at college live off super noddles for christ sake, I havent had meat in months. "establishing PlatinumGames as an emerging game studio in the minds of users worldwide" because of 360/PS3 fans.....you welcome "Bayonetta has fans the world over, and we would never dream of alienating them from participating in the future of PlatinumGames." Well you have...as I said not everyone is made of money, you don't establish a game on two platforms then have the sequel everyone has been waiting for on a third platform which didn't even get the first game. "brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers" "hope to grow the Bayonetta brand beyond where it stands today, allowing even more gamers around the world to experience the action of our beloved witch" How can more people experience it when you've limited it to one console, they keep saying something along those lines and in regards to what they've done it dosen't make sense. You want more fans around the world to experience it yet you've basicaly give the ones who actually bought it a slap on the face and are making them buy a new console just for the sequel. They better come up with something to resolve this...I don't see why they didn't just make it into a spin off starring Jeanne.
Disgaree all you want but there statment goes against what they've done...I'm just poitning it out
The first game was out on 2 CONSOLES!!! And it sold poorly. That clearly showed that the "hardcore" gamers did not want this game. They just want FPS shoot ya face type games and nothing more. If anything, direct that anger towards your fellow hardcore gamers who did not purchase this game!
@3rddimension So yeah sell a mature style game on a console synonymous with little kids and casuals? Man this game is gonna sell a bazillion Nintendo wiiU's! FYI And don't even bring up Nintendo past history, as many games were censored only on the Nintendo platforms.
"Not all those fans though are going to be able to afford a brand new console to buy the game...some people like me who are students at college live off super noddles for christ sake, I havent had meat in months." Sooo....don't buy it. Thats life. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have the same things. Just because everyone can't afford a new console doesn't mean that we should STOP technological advancement.
"because of 360/PS3 fans.....you welcome" Nintendo took it upon themselves to pick it up and revive it. I didn't see Sony or MS do that. Thank you Nintendo. "Not all those fans though are going to be able to afford a brand new console to buy the game..." Damn, that is sad, maybe you should trade in your ps3/360 and get a WiiU instead. Problem solved. Oooh but then you can't play the other games that are EXCLUSIVE to those systems. Notice how I said EXCLUSIVE. "you don't establish a game on two platforms then have the sequel everyone has been waiting for on a third platform which didn't even get the first game." Sort of like say...Final Fantasy 7, Metal Gear Solid and other games that jumped the Nintendo ship and found new life on a different console. "You want more fans around the world to experience it yet you've basicaly give the ones who actually bought it a slap on the face..." So do you not know that Sega CANCELLED the game? They had no intentions of releasing part 2 to the fans who bought the game for PS3 and 360. Nintendo has beeen kind enough to publish this themselvs! Not Sony, Not MS but Nintendo. If you want to yell at someone yell at Sony/MS for not picking it up and making it exclusive to their console.
With all due respect here: if you can't even afford basic necessities of life (like not super noodles), how in the hell do you afford video games? Seriously, why do you feel the developers should bring you a game that, by your own admission, you probably couldn't buy at full price?
@3rd Dimension It sold poorly because Platnium set it up to fail. The hack-n-slash fans are on PS3. Bayonetta was broken on PS3. Fanboyism will also sell a game. But Bayonetta was multi-plat, and leagues better on the platform with fewer fans. Xbox fans don't care about hack-n-slash, and why would Sony pay someone to make Bayonetta 2 when that same money could pay someone to make Heavenly Sword 2. The only place left to go was to Nintendo. Man talk about messing-up a masterpiece of a game.
@Darrius Cole Agreed. Why would Microsoft touch an IP that would only appeal to Japanese gamers? I thought their console wasn't doing too well in Japan. Hell, they didn't even want Killer Instinct 3 to be made! And with Sony, why would they invest in a game where the predecessor was practically broken on their system. They could be working on their own IP's instead. Heavenly Sword 2 made by SSM????????? Yes please. Seriously though, did they ever ask Konami to publish the game? With Konami taking risks with games like NeverDead. And Konami themselves asking PG to make Revengeance. Pretty sure they would at least consider the offer.
Everyone keeps saying Nintendo "Revived" Bayonetta, where does it says Nintendo helped fund bayonetta 2? For all we know all they did was pay Sega not to publish it so they could, thats the only logically possible reason for Platinum games to ignore 120 million+ consoles. Oh and this Sega cancelled it BS, lets be honest which Sega game in the last 5 years hit near 2 million? Only Bayonetta, so would they cancel a sequel to the best game they published since going full software?
SEGA didn't want to make the sequel, why aren't you "fans" blowing up sega for not wanting to make the sequel to a game you so whole heartily love? And also when/ if you do let sega have it. Be alittle more sane about it. There's no need to go threating to Kill the developers or, curse them to high hell about it.
It has nothing to do with sega not wanting to publish. It has everything to do with platinum not shopping around for a publisher that will release on multiplatforms out of respect for their fans.
@gamer7804 publishers look at how the previous game sold, it barely sold 1 million copies between 2 systems with a huge install base...2 SYSTEMS mind you. Now you figure out why sega passed and no one else wanted to invest into it especially in this economy. Where was MS, Sony? You know they were probably approached cuz afterall the game came out on their systems!
I don't think I understand your argument. MGS2 only came out on PS2. Are you upset that it didn't come out on PS1? Or are you upset that it didn't come out on Xbox and Gamecube too?
With that logic it's insane to buy any game announced on a next gen console because you'll have to buy a new system. Would you be just as angry if the game was announced for the 720 or PS4? You also seem to imply that no PS3 or 360 owner would ever buy a WiiU, which is an extreme bias.
The younger generation is so spoiled. When I grew up in the early 90s console exclusives were rampant. Not only that, but gaming cost waayyyy more. I could only afford a Sega Genesis. So I missed out on every SNES, Turbo GRx, Sega CD, and Neo-GEO game. Did I whine about it like the above hoser? No. And now that I'm older with a decent income I buy all 3 platforms. Because I'm a game enthusiast, not a self-entitled baby.
If someone is in college and in that situation, they shouldn't be buying games in the first place.
Bollox, once the clouds of anger clear and the first stunning bits of footage of this game get released people will get a WiiU and forget all about it.
I think people are being ridiculous. Sure, you may have to buy a Wii U to play Bayoneta 2. Are you *that* hateful towards Nintendo? If you're simply saying you can't afford to spend over $300 for one game, then just forget it because you obviously don't care about the other great games coming to the system. Also, this game will be around after Wii U has a price drop. It's not like "Oh, I can't afford it when the game launches so I might as well not bother."... If you want to play it so badly, wait until the price is reasonable for yourself. Otherwise, just shut up stupid fanboys.
I know. I'm a single console owner too. Plenty of games I would have liked on the Wii and didn't get. I didn't cry about it though. Jesus, get a life.
exclusives are the best thing for gaming, they create excitment. Good job Nintendo for securing this one even if i'm not a fan of the first one.
The fking system only cost 300$ that nothing go donate some sperm lol that 500$ right there.
I'll look forward to it. Most people who like it or want to try it will buy it anyway at some point. The rest....... fanboys and haters. They are a minority. True gamers will buy it since they will own a Wii U one day.
This PR talk is embrassing, lol. Just say this was our last chance to making Bayonetta 2 happen that is all, that would shut them up.
That's really the truth of it. I can't understand the harsh feedback for a situation where the company had only one more chance to make the game. Nintendo obviously saw the potential for an exclusive title, but it can't be blamed for taking advantage of the situation.
WOW Some gamers are obviously going to be angry over Bayonetta 2, I don't see how this is a bad thing at all. this is SAD but I don't see Bayonetta 2 selling well
Going to be? Where have you been in the last 24 hours!?
We saw what happened when a game like Madworld was released on Wii...
why Sega did not published it??? maybe sales were too low.
Blame Sega, they didn't want to invest in Bayonetta 2. Platinum Games obviously wanted to make this sequel, and Nintendo gave them the opportunity.
What's the big deal? Buy a Wii U simple as that. The game was never going to come to fruition if it wasn't for Nintendo. As a major PS3 gamer I'm actually glad for once we start to see some 3rd party exclusivity again and it's suppose to make you want to buy that console. Just like the old days. Too many people nowadays are fanboys or stuck on their brand of system. I preordered it yesterday and I will gladly pick up on my Wii U on 11/18 because the console has a lot of potential to be a really good system. And when the PS4 arrives around next-year I will gladly pick that one up too.
I wish I could play it but I doubt I will because I'm not buying a WiiU. I would have bought one if it was a step up graphically compared to ps3 and 360. The Wii U looks like it's a bit more powerful than current gen consoles like the original Wii. This will be a problem when the ps4 and nextbox come out because developers will be focusing on developing games on newer hardware and not WiiU games. The same thing happened with the original Wii which had only a handful of decent games to play each year.
P* game have planed this all along. They teasing or trying to get attention from PS360 fans so the game will become more popular. Not fallen for their mind game.
This comment is dumb. "Bayonetta is a brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers". How does making it an exclusive do that? At least tell the truth. You're being paid by Nintendo to make it for just the Wii U.
No one else wanted to produce it; thus, Nintendo funded and is publishing it. How is that not telling the truth?
How is that comment dumb? With the game now coming out because of Nintendo, they're able to keep the brand relevant in the gaming market because.....drum roll please.... IT IS NOW ACTUALLY COMING OUT ON A CONSOLE as opposed to NOT COMING OUT AT ALL! the first game time has come and gone. People are not going back to play it and they can't market it as new game any more. You keep your brand relevant by making new content for it, be it exclusive or not.
I don't care about Bayonetta at all but that comment is stupid. Maybe they could have got another third party publisher to publish it on all of the consoles. Going exclusive doesn't get it out to the most gamers.
Sega almost kill Bayonetta 2 and nintendo save it so why people blaming PG lol
They NEED to release Bay 1 on Wii U too, don't shoot yourselfs in the foot.
One day i will purchase your games again ,but while you are on the Nintendo platform . Such purchases will not happen but good .
Great news for fans of the game for me i traded it after a day wasnt my thing it may make a few fans jump in wii u early though.
