Honestly, is it even worth having the Wii U basic pack on shelves?

We know when it’s coming out, but should you be pre-ordering a basic bundle or a premium one? We know… (Wii U)

It's worth it because the Wii U wants to cater to both the "hardcore" and the "casual" audiences. There are people who are going to buy the system without any plans to make use of its digital downloads. For them, Nintendo wants to provide a cheap option.

I understand bundling it with Nintendo Land makes up for the extra cash, and most "casual" gamers will want Nintendo Land in the first place, but not all will. $300 is a bit pricey for the fans of the Wii, so $350 could be a deal breaker for some.

For most serious gamers, or even casual gamers with a good business sense, the Deluxe model is the obvious choice, but the basic pack will sell.

America have set their prices –
basic bundle 8GB = $299
premium bundle 32GB = $349
PS3 160GB Uncharted Trilogy Bundle is $200

$140 difference?

why is the Wii U so expensive?

low price was the Wii's biggest selling point.

oh wait maybe they will do the 3DS strategy again... profit from the early adopters and then make a huge price cut to lure the cheapskate budget moms.

never been an early adopter anyway...will wait for the great games to pile up at low $20 price points
