They only announced the japanese prices but it translates to $250 for the 8gb version and $300 for the premium 32gb one.
Edit: Nevermind my understanding of the Yen's value was off, it seems it's closer to $300 and $350.

Actually, it translates more to $330 for the 8GB and $400 for the 32GB. However, I doubt NOA will put the price higher than $300 and $350 respectively.

It is very nice to see that Nintendo has priced the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system right in line for the working class folk. Delivering a true next generation Elite gaming experience at a price that will bring a smile to gaming citizens around the world.

Pricing is key to a gaming consoles success. And the Nintendo brand has delivered on the promise of an affordable console once again. Just as they have every generation within the Nintendo home console product line.

Console cost
31500 Japanese yen = 405 US dollars
26250 Japanese yen = 337 US dollars

Gamepad Cost
13440 Japanese yen = 172 US dollars

brich2332106d ago

Pricing in the US will problably be less
$299.99-$349.99 for console and $149.99 for Gamepad. That is my asumption.

Guys remember the Japanese yen is more expensive then American currency

AWBrawler2106d ago (Edited 2106d ago )

and japan taxes more on electronics, so i guestimate prices are $350 and $400 bundles
Gamepad = $150

I was right!!!
