CheatCC Review: Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power (4 out of 5)

CheatCC writes: "Strategy titles are usually best left for the PC. There's something about the mouse and keyboard that lends itself to the genre. Typically consoles do much better at FPS and heavy action titles. Remarkably, Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power breaks the mold. This game is a historical based strategy simulator for the PS2 that combines deep and varied gameplay elements with simple tools and controls. The resulting fusion of complexity and simplicity makes it a title that stands out from the crowded game store shelves. It's nice to see that the PS2 still has a lot to offer."

I love these nobunaga ambition games... the one series i believe koei does right with. Trouble is by the time they come out in america i am normally already moved on to the next generation of console.. but i would much rather play updated versions of this game as opposed to say.. the dynasty warrior series.. sure wish they would put more of a focus on it.

IGN Review: Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power

Nobunaga Oda is easily one of history's most debated figures. Frequently decried for his tactics and his use of force, he's been depicted in artwork, literature and even videogames as a cruel villain and tyrant. However, this is also the man that managed to unite a bitterly divided Feudal Japan with diplomacy, key battles and political manipulation, ushering in a period of peace. Koei has frequently let players decide for themselves what kind of a man Oda was with their Nobunaga's Ambition strategy franchise. After more than a decade's absence, North American tacticians will finally get their hands on the latest game in the series, Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power.
