Twenty Years Later, New Super NES Game to be Released

Who says the old days of gaming are dead? Not WaterMelon, a retro video game publisher working on an all-new Super Nintendo title, codenamed ProjectN. Many unofficial games have been released for the SNES since its last “official” release (over twelve years ago!), but most have been remakes are renditions of existing franchises. ProjectN is not... Have to agree with you there. But it probably has to do with it being the first gaming system I've ever played.

I owned a Atari first but I was really old enough to comprehend and appriciate it when my brothers and I got a NES for christmas. That was my real first console.

TMNT I aand III Mahattan Project
Mario Bros 1, 2, 3
Duck Hunt
Akiri Warriors 3
and many more....

The nostalgia factor is definetly high for the SNES and older systems. I can only imagine what it would have been like to have my first system being a Sony PlayStation or N64.

@DeadSpaced

Not in my case. My first was an Atari.

I already had a N64, PS1 and 2, Dreamscast, Mega Drive (in the same period as the SNES), Sega CD, Neo Geo CD. And all were amazing. But the SNES was something different. The games had something magical. One was different from another. I don´t know how to explain exactly, if you know what I mean. And we don´t even had the online gaming. And this didn´t lack.

Today, the vast majority of the games looks the same. And I don´t saying this gen is bad. No, it´s not.

I don't think they can be compared, both were kings of their respective gens.

Man, if we are speaking about the best console of all time, of course they can and should be compared.

But I understood your point of view. Both were amazing.

wow i just saw one of these lying on the side of the road the other day!

Someone suggested they would pawn it and I laughed in their face cause it's worthless!

......but oh the memories i have of my SNES!

Sega Genesis, SNES, Turbo GFX-16, Neo Geo is the GOLDEN ERA of gaming!

I was 110% a Sega Genesis fan with it's "Blast Processing" cause Genesis does what NintenDon't!

well right up until Street Fighter II came out! I traded in my Genesis and all my games for a SNES and SFII DAY 1 cause SFII was the game of all games and SNES had SFII first and did it better than Genesis (except for the slow down)!

My favorite SNES Games:

Street Fighter II
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time
Star Fox
Street Fighter II: Turbo

dont they have to go through nintendo to release this? so I'm guessing nintendo is cool with releasing a game for a 12 year old system that I'm sure no one will buy? lol I'm confused

Please, as much as I like the snes and its my favourite console of all time, please move on and leave the snes in the retro years. R.I.P!

I'll never understand such negativism. You're not interested, fine. But what the hell do you care if people still enjoy playing the SNES and would like new games for it? I think this initiative is great. Just because some hardware is old doesn't mean that new software shouldn't be released on it. A good game is a good game no matter the technology it's based on.

Why would they have to go through Nintendo when they will be releasing a game on hardware which is not supported anymore by its manufacturer?
There is great demand for new games to be developped for old consoles, with the retrogaming trend. The last game Watermelon Corp made for the Sega Genesis in 2010 sold several thousand copies and got raving reviews.
