Kuma Presents Forza Horizon Thoughts and Fact Sheet

Kuma Wrote: Welcome race fans to Forza Horizon. This is the new open world racing game in the Forza series and also their first open world racer. I wanted to share my thoughts a bit on this concept, because many racing games have tried to accomplish what many of us race enthusiast wanted. The first open world racing game I tried was Test Drive Unlimted, which was a nice vacation racer set in Hawaii. Later on came Burnout: Paradise which was not a simulator like Test Drive, but more of an open world arcade, destruction derby racer. There is even an MMO from the folks at Need for Speed World, but I think that Forza Horizon might have something to add to the ranks of the open world racing genre. The developer came out by saying, “It is not just a race against opponents, but a race against the world.” I like the way he stated that, since the environment itself will also be your enemy in dealing with traffic and distractions. The world is alive and if you are not concentrating on the world infront of you, then you might want to prepare to kiss your steering wheel hitting an object at over 150 mph. (Forza Horizon, Xbox 360)

Forza looks to be adding some new features to the series which fans should be happy about.

Honestly my favorite racers are Grid and Dirt because they mix arcade style with simulation. Many racing games need to mix the two to keep it exciting. I am hoping this happens here.

Forza Horizon does have dirt road, plus have rally cars so it should be good :]

This is only a Forza game in name only. Its being made by the majority of the team that did Blur and Project Gotham Racing. Its basically a new racing IP with the Forza name.

a lot of the assets used are coming from forza though(graphics engine, physics, car models, sounds, etc)

An IP is something that's completely different. Pretty sure jib made his comment in reference to that. Or it could be about how you mentioned that this isn't being directly made by Turn 10. They're helping with a part of it, but I'm not sure how.
