Secret Level has released some new images of Golden Axe: Beast Rider, to be released this summer on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
(The two new images that hasn't been posted before on N4G are attached.)
Anyone else got the strange notion that this game is going to suck? hopefully not but i loved the orignal game on the sega mega ahhh.... yes good times good times....
I remember loving this game when it came out for the Sega Genesis! Friends would always come over and play it right to the end. I remember how funny it was to wack your team mate when they had their back turned. Hahaha!
I remember playing it in the arcade and on my Sega Master System, good days back then for video gamers, Things were much simpler.
Fond memories of the original arcade and the megadrive version. I remember another arcade Golden Axe where the female character was a centaur which was good fun too, can't remember the full name though. This looks like crap though. I would be interested in another decent Golden Axe and who knows, there's a possibility this could play like a dream but after seeing the likes of Yakuza 3, graphically this isn't impressing me at all.
Why is Sega trying so hard to destroy it's classic franchises is beyond me. After killing Sonic in horrible games and making a good but not great game based on the legendary NiGHTs, it seems to be Golden Axe's time to be ruined.
Hopefully I'm wrong and the gameplay turns out to be awesome because the graphics sure look bad.
I was thinking the same thing, leave the classics alone. I wonder what a new Altered Beast would look like though...
Not so good. US version was cancelled. Still, it wasn't as bad as some of late Sega games though I didn't play it much.
While the graphics look average hopefully the gameplay will be top notch. I was a big fan of the original golden axe.
Those graphics look worse than average. It's like this is a new developer trying to program for the first time. It doesn't even come close to the preview trailer shown a while back at E3.
Dark Sniper will not touch none of Sega's reinvented garbage. From Sonic the Hedgehog to Golden Axe, Sega has caught the severe case of amnesia as they have forgotten the games that has made them what they were at it's prime.
It's blatantly obvious to those who pay attention that Dark Sniper would love for another Shenmue sequel to be released. But only if it's under the direction of Yu Suzuki. Sega seems to have either released him or have him in some kind of corporate confinement because Dark Sniper noticed Suzuki-san had nothing to do with Virtua Fighter 5.
Dark Sniper will continue to boycott the garbage that has become Sega Enterprises. The only thing that could change his mind is to see new versions of Shenmue, Jet Set Radio, Fighting Vipers, Fighter's Megamix, Burning Rangers, and Virtua On. They could even bring back a Daytona USA remake as long as it has the infamous opening theme song.
Shenmue was a great game for its time , but to release a sequel now might not be a good idea, golden axe dosent seem the same anymore ,its a shame , how do you mess up golden axe ? its a hack and slash!
lol... the gameplay be pretty damn special because the GRX certainly aren't! Think ill pass..
When this was first announced I was really hoping it was going to be a remake of Golden Axe 1. I was hoping for a third person action game that drew in some RPG elements and exploration, as well as some hack and slash combat goodness. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I saw.... that.
They really should focus their resources on making either a remake of old golden axe games, or a new one in the same style as the old to live and the psn, but trying to bring it to the realm of current gen without any fresh ideas or features that make it stand out other than nostalgia will only hurt the franchise.
That looks really weak.
Face it, this game just will not work on next-gen consoles. Only thing it had to fall back on were the graphics, but they are beyond awful. Another waste, another generic 3rd person hack "n" slash ala Conan/Beowulf.
Is it just me or do the creatures look like they are wrapped in plastic?
But ill wait and see, might be good
id like to see a virtua cop remake, obviously with random enemies
actually id like to see sega bring back all there classics
