The Halo Counncil Writes: GameInformer October just came out with quite a bit of information about Halo 4 new enemy class called the: Promethean.
Nice! Cant wait to see the other weapons & enemies on November 6th.
Every single bit of new info wow. It's looking amazing. Nuff said
if these are really forerunner, they look nothing like what had previously been described.... their appearance and characteristics remind me of Precursor.
They are part od forerunners. I'm sure will see some more on halo 5-6 I bet their like the gods..
still doesn't match the description of the forerunner, I'll wait to see the explanation.... but Guilty Spark told Chief he was a forerunner (halo3), when he really wasnt.... the Forerunner have been described as 12 feet all, long legs and arms. they look very similar to human, but have pale skin, white hair. Even in the Halo Legends shorts, we see the Forerunner as very humanoid.... So I'm just really concerned 343i is re inventing the Forerunner and fucking over any lore pre-established. Thus sort of penalizing anyone who is actually interested in the lore.
They're not forerunner. They're prometheans. Forerunner created AI.
Well they're not true Forerunners. From what I've guessed from hints given, they used to be Forerunners but they were converted into robotic AI by the Composer. Real Forerunners probably look much more humanoid.
then it defeats the purpose of naming them Prometheans, are we going to call Cyborgs humans or Americans? just seems like sloppy writting imho. if we created Cyborgs we could leave them with a different name than what we call people or identify our people by....
@solidsystem I think you're just nitpicking. There's nothing really wrong with calling a Promethean AI in a robotic body based (however different) on their real ones a Promethean. And yes, as a general term, I'd call a human cyborg a human.
For those of you worried that the Prometheans don't match the discription of the Forerunners, here's some clarification. The Prometheans are NOT actual Forerunners. 343i have described the Prometheans revealed so far as a form of Forerunner AI. That means the Forerunners will most likely look completely different from these new enemies. After all, Greg Bear's Forerunner Trilogy (written in collaboration with 343i) describes the Forerunners exactly as they have been described up to this point. So rest easy, Halo is in great hands.
and then in halo 3 we had a great line "you are forerunner" (guilty spark to master chief). I'm really not sure this franchise is in good hands.
Keep in mind that 343 Guilty Spark has been rampant for quite some time before this (evidenced by his humming/talking to himself and his erratic behavior) so this line could be dismissed as part of Spark's rampancy or his confusion as to Master Chief's race (he seems to think Chief is a Forerunner in Halo: CE as well). I say "could" because its highly likely that Bungie intended for us to learn something very important about Chief and the human race in general. In response to your belief that the franchise is not in the best hands your opinion is your own and I respect that. However, I would like to point out that many of the 343i members are ex-Bungie as well (I'm assuming you would prefer Bungie) so I wouldn't worry about them distorting the Halo universe too much. If you have the time, I'd love to hear your arguments so long as you present them in a clear, calm manner (which I'm sure you will).
I like 343 more than I like bungie. I originally blame bungie for the bad story telling in the first place. why can humans activate Halos....which are massive weapons created by their enemy? I doubt the US would hand launch codes for its nukes to the middle east.
It seems kind of lame to introduce a completely new faction of enemies after all these years and then have only 3 main types of them. Not very interesting if you ask me and I hope there's more than this.
There is. 7 new enemy classes were announced, with the Watchers and Knights and their varients making up a single class each. This means, along with the Watcher, only 3 have been seen so far; 4 more and their varients will likely be introduced.
