Women in the trenches of Game Design

Discussing the positive influence women have in game development as well as the potential for further positive influences. (Anita Sarkeesian, Culture, Dev, Industry, Kisareth Studios)

I'm definitely wanting to become a game designer x) . Not a whole lot of anything for experience though (some dabbling with Oblivion mods, toying with Half Life 2 as well) but it is of an interest of mine.

I find anything with a kit just so much fun to play with as to be able to get in deep with it.

The best part about writing this article was meeting a developer whose attitude was completely opposite to that of people like Anita Sarkeesian. Here was a woman who said "I create characters that fit with the game. If the girl I'm designing has to be weak to fit with the game, she's gonna be weak." I'm paraphrasing of course, but the general idea is that the characters made for games can be made without any consideration about anything other than the integrity of the game itself. These kinds of developers need to be heard more than people like Anita Sarkeesian.
