The End of HD-DVD? An inevitable death

PSU Writes:

"Over the last two months we have witnessed certain events within the high definition market shifting in favour of Sony's Blu-ray format, leading inexorably to the death of Toshiba's competing HD-DVD technology. Indeed, it would appear as though the final nail is in the coffin, so to speak."

The article continues talking about recent events that are leading to the eventual death of HD-DVD.

Austin Powers in "The spy who shag me"

Powers: Why won't you die!

HD-DVD: Just gimme a second I'm bidding my time.

I was in my local HMV today and it's interesting to see that they have actually expanded their HD-DVD space. It used to be 2 shelves compared to Blurays 4. Today there were 3 shelves each and I did see HD-DVD's littered around the store more than they have in the past. I don't know if it's just that store or if HMV in the UK is trying to push HD-DVD or what but I thought it was a little odd.

The easiest way to get rid of stock is to have it more visible.

Not being funny, but unlike Blu-ray which has a mix of titles, HD DVD in HMV the same few titles, but lots of copies.

That would obviously make sense. I gotta admit I only very quickly browsed the Bluray section and just saw the increased number of red/brown boxes. I didn't take too much notice.

Wasn't there supposed to be an HD DVD commercial during the Superbowl (IN WHICH MY GIANTS WON!!! YEAH!)? Did I miss it?

It must suck to live in Boston and support HD DVD right now. Just saying.

I'm a long-time member of PSU.com's forums (PS3forums.com), and could even be called a Sony fanboy. I will say, however, that I'm not even going to bother with this article because PSU.com is an extremely biased site that lacks anything approaching journalism. I feel sorry for anyone who takes them seriously.

Why do you think PSU lacks in credibility?

They've done quite a bit features, interviews, etc.
