God of War’s Top 5 Epic Moments: Number Five — Destroying Zeus and Cronos

Posted by Aaron Kaufman // Community Strategist, Santa Monica Studio -

Every God of War fan remembers the first time they unleashed the Blades of Chaos. Amidst a catastrophic storm on a ship sailing on the Aegean Sea, players led Kratos toward the Gates of Athens, where he would begin his journey to seek out and destroy the God of War, Ares. It was in these first minutes of the original God of War that Kratos encountered the Hydra — a gargantuan sea serpent that explodeed through the ship, wreaking havoc for Kratos with every step. Not on this day. Kratos utterly beat the crud out of the Hydra in a series of epic clashes, culminating with a journey into the Hydra’s throat to retrieve the Captains Key. That’s God of War, and that… was the first of many unfathomably epic moments experienced in the God of War franchise. (God of War 3, PS3)

I recently got the God of War Collection and didn't know what I was missing. I've only beaten the first one so far and have to say the Hydra battle was pretty epic. Too epic maybe because the whole game I was waiting for another boss fight that was on the same scale or at least close to how awesome the opening of the game was.

God of War 2 solves your problems, the intro is epic (I prefer GoW intro however) the game keep its epicness trought the end of the game.

GoW 2 is great but for spoiler reasons i wont tell you my favorite epic moment.

God of War sure has some pretty epic boss fights and moments, 2 favourites of mine are the Hydra boss fight and Ares boss fight in the first God of War :)

Chronos was number 1. I'm not sure why they would make it part of number 5. :/

Killing cronos was the best moment in the whole god of war series. Incredible..

I don't understand how you can lump Zeus and Chronos together. Those are two completely separate boss fights (and you fight Zeus on multiple occasions across multiple venues across multiple games).

And I'm failing to see what could top the felling of a Titan.

No fault in the idea of the story, just saying your choices are strange and illogical.
