TGC writes: The online public funding website Kickstarter has brought roaring success for many projects since its 2008 launch. One area in particular which has gained popularity is with game developers. Small indie studios often find it hard to crack into the industry, with thousands having to be spent to get noticed or signing with a publisher who will take their project on. Signing with a publisher also means handing over a vast quantity of profit and sometimes even the rights to the IP. With Kickstarter these developers can get crowd funding and even secure pre-orders of their game months before release, its a great way to kick off a project without much in the way of sacrifice.
