PAX Prime: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is Basically Bayonetta 2 | StickSkills

StickSkills said, "Remember how some people were bummed about the cancellation of a possible Bayonetta 2? Well, whatever came out of what they had, it’s pretty much (if not entirely) in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. As I started playing it at PAX Prime this year, I just couldn’t shake the feeling that it’s basically Bayonetta."

Would of rather had Bayonetta 2 to be honest.

The more I think about it the more I wonder where the Bayonetta series could go after what happened in Bayo 1.

I don't want to really spoil anything, but Kamiya basically pulled another Devil May Cry 1.

Also Kamiya's ideas for a prequel don't sound too good.

It seems to play a lot differently. The way you select the direction of your sword slices, kill enemies through objects, the incorporation of stealth etc.

I don't think it looks anything like Bayonetta at all apart from the fact that it shares a similar combat system, which is something PG has more or less perfected this gen.

Exactly what I was thinking. Nothing shown of Rising thus far reminds me of Bayonetta.

Even though raiden wears bigh heels, I'd hate to see him do a wicked weave move and end up half dressed. Would want bayonetta as a playable toon though. : )

For what I have seen so far of the game it certainly doesn't have the deep of Bayonetta's combo system.

I think Platinum Games is trying something more simple to win over the Metal Gear fans who don't have experience in this kind of games.

How can you tell how deep a game is from 2 minute tutorial vids and blurry videos of people mashing buttons at cons?

The camera in this game looks pretty fixed.

The camera in Bayonetta is dynamic and freely controlled
