"The following information comes from an interview with Ubisoft's Michel Ancel...
- believes Nintendo has a tough job ahead explaining to Wii U
- feels that people need to play it to get it
- for him, Wii U is a core gamer concept
- allows for core gamer concepts to continue existing, but allows devs to build on them
- the decisions this leaves for developers may seem problematic at first, but actually leads to value
- on Rayman Legends, the GamePad player will be able to litteraly dig into the scenery
- finds asymmetric gameplay great", writes GoNintendo.
Michel Ancel has announced he has left the video game industry to focus full-time on a wildlife sanctuary.
Ancel's prolific 30-year career saw him create franchises at Ubisoft such as Rayman, Rabbids and Beyond Good & Evil.
I think Ubisoft have butchered his vision for Beyond Good and Evil 2, and over the years it got to a point where it was just like "RIGHT...I'm out"
There goes Beyond Good and Evil. I won't be buying the new one.
I guess he moved on. And I moved on from Ubisoft years ago. Excluding their support in VR. Would be cool if the first game was made in VR. Oh well.
Fox is probably right. His game was put on the back burner for years unless it was a hit like Rayman. Tons of Assassin's Creed games and shooters like Ghost and Rainbow. But no support for making BG&E a smash hit. I got tired of waiting for a sequel until they showed early tech demo footage years ago of Jade running through the streets.
Good luck to him.
I would quit too. I bet these guys are so fed up with everything, and dealing with gamers, that they would rather find a job to get as far away from gaming as they can.
Rayman first appeared back in the mid 90s and quickly became an icon of his era along with the likes of Crash Bandicoot and Spyro. In more recent years, Rayman’s popularity has been in decline and, whilst Rayman Legends received critical acclaim, it failed to meet sales expectations. However, it seems there may be hope on the horizon.
Do it, good Sir...
Just do it...
Oh, and also don't forget about WiLD...
Hoping to hear more at PGW...
I am impressed that some people can get paid $12005 in one month on the internet .

Michel Ancel is a man that one may not know the name of, but many will certainly recognize his work. The French game developer, primarily known as the creator of the Rayman series, has brought a unique personality and charm to the world of video games.
"- Wii U has an enormous amount of memory"
"- Almost no limitations in terms of memory"
Sounds like Eurogamer was lying again. "Enormous" doesn't sound like 1 gigabyte.
"- can display full HD on the main screen while streaming a different image at 800X480 on the GamePad."
"- this is while keeping a 60 i/s framerate."
"- not a traditional next-gen system in terms of a graphical leap, as Nintendo has chosen a different direction"
So it's moderately powerful but not a huge leap. Pretty much my expectations.
Nintendo takes a back seat again hardware wise. Most of us knew Wii-U wouldn't be that huge leap in terms of performance/specs...Wii-U is big for Nintendo fans since they will finally get to play some HD Mario and Zelda....
ENORMOUS amounts of memory...nearly limitless...like...512 mb
Not sure if it can handle BG&E 2.... lol... It's already being snubbed by future games.
- not a traditional next-gen system in terms of a graphical leap, as Nintendo has chosen a different direction
Pretty much confirms its as powerful if not less than current gen. :)
At least it has lots of memory which is good.
