Battlefield 3 Armored Kill Rush, Are defenders defenseless?

In this SpecialCast ZitterZap, NOVAxDRAGON, SkullznSpadz and WillGuitarGuy discuss as well as analyze why defenders are defenseless on the Armored Kill rush game mode especially on consoles. We discuss strategies that can be used to counter the AC-130 and the attacking enemy armor. We look at this imbalance from a console perspective but also analyze whether similar imbalance would translate to PC. We discuss small changes that DICE can implement to make this mode more balanced and try to predict the what changes will be part of the next patch. You can say what you want but having the gunship for the attackers is so ridiculious.Not only do you need to worry about the gunship you need to worry about the tanks ect on top of that.The gunship isnt something you just shoot out of the sky in a second it takes some time even with a jet.Not a smart idea on Dices part for that.It pretty much has ruined what rush is all about.

the gunship , the idea is pretty sweet.. but with the lack of AA , its really crappy playing as defender

They should have gave the ac 130 to the defenders instead

Rush on the B2K maps are usually pointless for the defenders. All you need for the attackers is a Tank and Air support and it's pretty much a lose lose situation for the defenders.

DICE need to leave Rush as an infantry only mode IMHO.

My way of thinking would be that when on deffense the squad layout would be a sniper with a SOFLAM,2 Engineers with javilins and 1 support to provide ammo. With the right group of people ,this should work very well.

We tried two different strategies.

3 Engineers with IGLA and 1 Medic to revive them. Didn't work we all were getting killed.

We then tried the SOFLAM+JAV combo and our SOFLAM was getting taken out as soon as we placed it. SOFLAM now takes splash damage so its easier to take it out.

If you have 2 coordinated AC-130 gunners deploying flares and 1 Jet pilot keeping the skies clear there is hardly any counter.

The Gunship won't even let your tank get out of the spawn so you don't have anything to fight the attacking tanks with. Remember all your engineers are already running IGLA's to counter the Gunship.

It is a bad bad situation.

The only way to balance this is by including destructable AA's in the defender depoloyment, like in the other Conquest maps.

That would be a right balance.

It's a tough thing to balance in a FPS, airpower.
