Ahahaha. Yes. That's exactly right. It feels like a lot of games meet the criteria of the bottom example, though. Games back during the golden era felt like they were always the top example whenever it came to (the proper name) expansion packs.
Getting pasta and salad as DLC, is the style of content that RDR, GTA4, Burnout Paradise have. Those are like other game, other episode so it could be compared to the salad (other thing). Most games though, give you another meatball as DLC. Is the same pasta but they give you an additional meatball, which means content like Mass Effect 2 and 3 Activition and Capcom are the perfect example of the bottom part. They really give you incomplete content, and they sell you each noodle of the pasta separately. If you want a meatball they sell it as a premium, and don't you ask for tomato sauce because you'll regret it.
