The 8 best Xbox games to own forever

SBG: "The Best to Own Forever series isn’t about what’s great right now. It’s about what will be great in 10 years, even though there will be better-looking games and later sequels, and what will keep you pulling that dusty old console out of the closet every once in a while. This time, we focus on the original Xbox which, while mostly home to ports and iterative series, has a few gems to go back to." (Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, Burnout 3: Takedown, Jade Empire, Jet Set Radio Future, Metal Wolf Chaos, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Star Wars Battlefront II, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, Xbox)

My favourite game on Xbox...
... was probably Rallisport Challenge 2.

Absolutely gorgeous graphics, and fantastic gameplay. Rallying perfection.

Ninja Gaiden Black was also perfect.

edit: Oh, and PES5 ofcourse. Still the best PES ever.

How about Project Gotham Racing??? It was also a launch title. And Crimson Skies and the original Halo(or even Halo 2) are good enough to be on this list. But those three games were the most played games by me on my Xbox.

Halo, Halo 2 and Steel Battalion.

Will never understand why these titles didn't make it on this list of 8? And why 8? Why not 10?
Stansolo  +   960d ago
Steel Battlion, had some great games online. Still got mine wish it was backwards compatible with xbox 360.

Its a solid list, I still have over 100 original Xbox games. Doom 3, KOTOR, Escape From Butcher Bay, Forza, Project Gotham Racing, Conker, Toejam & Earl 3, Blinx, Voodoo Vince, Amped,Crimson Skies and Brute Force are some of my absolute favorites.

Even though it didn't have a huge lifespan, the original Xbox had a lot of great ideas, like a built in HDD, HD cables and great online right out of the box.
THE_MACGREGOR  +   955d ago
Actually Xbox didnt have great online straight out of the box
ChunkyLover53  +   955d ago
They launched Xbox Live 1 year after the Xbox's launch, considering it had a built in high speed modem, I'd say that was some forward thinking.
THE_MACGREGOR  +   955d ago
Modem ? Take it you dont rightly know what that is..the xbox had a built in network card..ya know an ethernet port....you use a modem from your ISP or some retail store to connect via ethernet a straight connection to to xbox or router / gatway ......instructions came with your xbox live....might try re reading that holmes

3 games and 3 games only. Advent Rising (despite glitches) Otogi series and the all powerful Phantom Dust.
3-4-5  +   960d ago
So why isn't Crimson Skies on there ?

it's a Top 10 for online multi-player experiences for sure. One of the funnest times online I've ever had. Man I miss that game.
KidBroSweets2  +   960d ago
