Rumor: Bioshock 4 May Be In The Works, Says Source

"BioShock Infinite is scheduled to arrive on Xbox 360 on February 23, 2013. But could 2K Games be planning the next title in the series, BioShock 4? A inside source has told us that this may in fact be true." (BioShock, BioShock 4, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Hard to tell

That would be amazing! I love a combination of all of the games into one solid game.
SpelunkyJunkie  +   775d ago
Do I smell a Bioshock Collection in the future? The series is great; I even enjoy the controversial second entry into the series.
AntoineDcoolette  +   775d ago
We need a Bioshock 3 first...
Grap  +   775d ago
i think bioshock infinite is 3. anyway even 2 it doesn't feel like 2. it was 1.5 the best way to put it
NYC_Gamer  +   775d ago
I wouldn't buy Bioshock 4 unless it was made by Irrational Games
TheMasterShake  +   775d ago
agreed bioShock 2 needless to say wasn't really top notch like BioShock.
vickers500  +   775d ago
If you look at Bioshock 2 as its own game and put aside all the comparisons between it and the first game, Bioshock 2 is a really good game.

It's a disappointment as a Bioshock game, but as a standalone game it's still great.

I wouldn't mind another sequel, B2 was pretty much just an expansion (which I wouldn't mind).
showtimefolks  +   775d ago
Agreed IG have to do any and all bioshock games
blue_flowers  +   775d ago
@NYC_Gamer
i agree man, i played Bioshock 2, and it was forgettable and felt like a less fantastic trip back to Rapture.
UltimaEnder  +   775d ago
I hope this is true!

I'll take a real sequel over Infinite any-day...
Bluemaster77  +   775d ago
Infinite is a sequel .....
DarkTower805  +   775d ago
No Infinite is not a sequel, it just carries the name Bioshock but has nothing to do with the previous 2 other than similar gameplay elements.
lasersquash  +   775d ago
Its actually a prequel to bioshock...
averyzoe  +   775d ago
Sequels are a sure thing, I guess.
JTX  +   775d ago
Shouldn't there be a bioshock 3 before there's a 4?
Carl_Shocker  +   775d ago
Thats what I was thinking, BioShock Infinite isn't classed as Bishock 3, hell to be honest I still think it's a spin off using the brand name to sell more units. I think it should of been called Areoshock or Skyshock for example

Bioshock 3 would surley come out before Bioshock 4, counting BioShock Infinite as the third instalment would just confuse people.

sorry but Bioshock does not imply underwater in rapture, bioshock implies a bio shock, or in this series of games, genetically altering your genes with plasmids. Infinite has plasmids and that means it is just as bioshock as the first 2 games.
Carl_Shocker  +   775d ago
"sorry but Bioshock does not imply underwater in rapture"

...erm....I never said it did

Bioshock had a water setting which is why people relate it to water

Look at System shock, it's not called Spaceshock is it yet the System part just relates to the "sysem" the AI SHODAN runs on.

Still with it taking it to the skies I still think they should of started a new IP with the "shock" name

exactly my point, where does bio imply that it is underwater and has to be set in rapture?

You say that infinite should be called "Aeroshock or skyshock" and not bioshock. Then you say in your other comment that the system refers to the "system" that the Ai runs on. That is the same a BIO referring to changing your DNA with plasmids, a theme that is continued in bioshock infinite.

you pretty much proved my point that the games are not named based on their settings and that a change in settings does not mean it should have a different name.

No I mean people wouldn't realte System shock to that, they would relate it more with it being set in Space, like how they relate Bioshock with being underwater even though Bio dosen't mean water.

It's the setting which people have attached to the franchises name, not what they mean. It's just what has happened...

To have a Bioshock game set in the Sky seems like a wasted oppounity when you could of had a new Shock IP and continued Bioshock in the sea below. Besides Kev Levine has said it won't even realte to Bioshock, so again the question, whats the point relating it to Bioshock when it has nothing to do with the first games.

I believe this is possible. I am sure there will be all kinds of DLCs to lead the story from Infinite to 4. Maybe Infinite is all just a nightmare of a Big Daddy--and wake up in the chaotic world of 4! =-D
DryPancake  +   775d ago
I sure as fuck hope not!
ziggurcat  +   775d ago
i love bioshock, but i think they need to space out the sequels...
Sabrina_Holmes  +   775d ago
They should just make a online BioShock game where new DLCs are released every month and maps. Make it a fun RPG and MMO type game. Liked your article.
HarryKawkReturns  +   775d ago
Just....no.
AngelicIceDiamond  +   775d ago
Dear god start a new series already....

I hope this isn't true.
SpelunkyJunkie  +   775d ago
Bioshock is an amazing series. Let's get as many sequels out of this franchise as possible!
BlackIceJoe  +   775d ago
I would like to see the next one be a spiritual sequel to System Shock. I know SS3 will not come out. But it would be cool to see what Ken Levine could do with outer space like he did on SS but taking place in the Bioshock universe.
Blacklash93  +   775d ago
Didn't Levine promise a Bioshock for the Vita last year?
DigitalRaptor  +   775d ago
Yeah, they'll be making that after they're done with BioShock Infinite.

So... no BioShock 4. I'm good for that!
SandWitch  +   774d ago
Exactly my thoughts, it must be BioShock Vita and not BioShock 4

Can I atleast have bioshock 3 first?
amandadyar  +   775d ago
With all the different consoles out then there are endless possibilities. Much like Assassin's Creed 3 for consoles and then the entirely other title Assassin's Creed III Liberation. There are so many ways that this could come about. I hope they do it in a way that stays true to the fans as well.
Sticky__Rice  +   775d ago
360 "& PS3"* :)
But I'm sure were bound to get a bioshock 3* sooner or later. Lets just focus on one at a time ya?
Kran  +   775d ago
Bioshock 1
Bioshock 2
Bioshock Infinite <--- THIS IS NOT BIOSHOCK 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many times? ¬¬

Rockefellow  +   775d ago
I can't think of better proof of this being a crock of shit than the writing quality and editing of the article, and even the PREVIEW here, is so rife with errors an elementary student wouldn't make.
J86blum  +   775d ago
I'd like if Bioshock had a dark theme, if it was long enough you should play as two characters, one is set during the days in which Rapture is being build and Andrew Ryan is just now getting investments and pulling away from the goverment and your just a lowly worker(No goverment ties.)

And you try to stop him. and then flash fword to a NOW setting as his adult son or daughter who has the blue prints to rapture and either go back to a now horrible rapture since its been trashed and mainly collect proof of everything that has gone on to expose him, the benefactors who helped him and so fworth and so on.

Just a thought up on the spot thing.
