Wii U Daily has exclusive details on the next Zelda game for the Wii U.
Damn that's like soon, Skyward Sword came out in 2011. Between Twlight Princess and Skyward Sword there was a 5-year gap edit: ah, that's true, well this would be the number one Wii U game for me too look forward too then, this and Smash Bros. 4
Yeah but between the other games such as OOT and MM, then MM and WW etc, there was a 3 year gap so it is completely plausible for this to be released around that time.
Aaaand it's not going to look anywhere near as beautiful as that tech demo.
@FACTUAL evidence I think it will look much better than the tech demo. I think Skyward Sword had a fantastic look that was just held back by the Wii's power. That style in 1080p would be pretty glorious imo. Just search YouTube for Skyward Sword Dolphin for a sample.
@linkratos That tech demo shows how good the graphics could when it concentrates on nothing but graphics and animations. That is likely as good as it is going to look for a while. Normally tech demos are a step above game graphics for that system. I just don't so how you think it will look so much better.
@edgeofsins Not necessarily, twilight princess on GameCube looked miles better than the Zelda tech demo that was showen before launch of the system.
I'm a little skeptical after how disapointed SS was for me, they said that was going to be big yet felt small and was stripped of stuff which made past Zelda games so good.
Freakazoid why are you calling other people trolls when you get p*ssy over their opinion. Just because I found SS disapointing dosen't mean I'm a troll, honestly people just use the troll word when they come across somebody with an opinion that dosen't match their own. Why don't you try and maturly argue your point about why I'm wrong instead of resorting to immature tatics I just found SS to be over hyped and over rated for what it offered compared to past Zelda games. It was smaller, repeatative, you backtracked a lot, had the same go fetch me this quest most of the time and didn't really offer a good land to explore fully like you did with Hyrule in Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess or even when sailing the oceans in Wind Waker. I mean other games got called out that year...Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3 for example because they felt the same as their last installments and that they didn't feel like they improved much and yet Zelda got a free pass even though Twlight Princess was a better game and made it seemed like they went backwards instead of forwards. So yeah...just my opinion I've brought up my points in a mature fashion...not something a so called "troll" would do...is it. "So from your own post history you hate Mario for not changing and Zelda for changing at all. Makes perfect sense" Way to exaggerate things...I've said something about Mario in like one article...thats all "Especially since the only games you speak highly of are PS3 games. You probably have never played a Zelda game at all just want to troll" I've just joined 3 days ago and I only have 59 comments...can you really judge me because of my comment history.
Would love to see a bigger and realistic remake of OoT or LttP. Thoes two are my favorite cause they stay true to that knight saving princess fairy tale and are more believable. The other games wonder of with weird worlds and creatures that aren't really interesting.
i agree carl wii zeldas were not worth playing twice and i played them all ocarina is still the best cuz that world made you feel like you were there.skyward felt empty the island were random and no one was on them.hey freakazoid when are you ever going to get your lips off nintendos butt and just admit nintendo has made bad games. i own a wii and a ps3 i can admit they both made shitty games. your such a sheep
Well Freakazoid, you've very little manners. I agree with Carl. SS was a stripped down Zelda; it took well over 2 hrs for the game to actually start (I'm sure I wasn't the only one who didn't give a one about Link and friends' adventures on Skyloft town); in addition, motion controls aren't my thing either.
-Those motion controls were just so heart breakingly awful! -I remember i had a dream that Nintendo released a patch to use the Classic controller pro! -To this day I still wait for that dream to become a reality... :(
Same here especially if it looks like how the tech demo looked like.
"The development is once again led by Eiji Aonuma, who has been working on the game with his team since late 2010." So holiday 2014 is 4 years. Plus this team is the biggest Nintendo ever assembled.
I wouldn't say it's too soon. The Halo franchises tended to have a three year gap between games as well. Halo came out in 2001, Halo 2 in 2004, 3 in 2007 and so on. Besides, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword were Zelda games in the same generation, so I reckon Nintendo would want to wait a while before releasing another Zelda on the same platform. Not sure if this is true or not, but it certainly seems plausible. I'm one of those who really liked Skyward Sword, but it would be nice to see something more "groundbreaking."
Correction: Halo games, not franchises. Derp.
The only zelda games to have a big gap in production were OoT and Skyward Sword.
Plus you gotta remeber that skyward sword was released close to a whole year after it was completed
2014 will be the year I pick up a wii U
Soon? ...It's like 2 years away. I probably only have like 50 of em left.
Hmm, Let's see what happens
Hopefully it does happen. I was more than dissapointed with the Wii U showing of marion, as it was Nintendos opportunity to blow us away. It will be a good game regardless (like the other marios) but I want them to shake up the formula more. I'm hoping Zelda and Metroid get an overhaul, it will be fantastic.
YES THANK YOU GOD... although I do hope they take the art style of the tech demo instead of Skyward Sword. Either way, now I know I will defo buy the Wii U
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I'm speaking for the majority of Zelda fans when I say that the darker art style suits the series best.
Agreed. Twilight Princess has had my favorite art style thus far but I can deal with SS I suppose. Though MM was my favorite title.
it depends on the game really. imagine windwaker with twilight princess graphics, it just wouldn't work out.
Me too. By that time the familiarity of the hardware will be in full swing. I expect Smash Bros. will be out in 2013.
Cool but i was hoping for a darker art.
Me too. I want a Zelda game to look like the tech demo or better. It doesn't have to be so realistic like Battlefield 3 or something like that. However, looking how gorgeous the new Rayman Legends looks, I know Nintendo won't disappoint. Also, even if everything on the article is fake, I trust that Nintendo will make a Zelda utilizing 100% of the Wii U and will have revolutionary gameplay. The same for a 3D mario game. These two are their most beloved franchises and they always do amazing thing with them. I want completely new music for the new Zelda game. They did a fantastic job with Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, and I have confidence that Nintendo can do even a better job for a Zelda game.
Remember there is true hype and false hype
I kinda feel a little dissapointed about the Skyward Sword art style I was hoping for more of a realistic Zelda game like the tech demo. I guess I will have to see an official gameplay trailer first though
Since it will have better visuals; higher poly counts, better shaders etc. I think it will do just fine. They did a pretty good job with the Wii version. There is no doubt that the Wii-U zelda will improve so much over the Wii version visually. I personally do not like a realistic approach. You will end up in boring pallets that don't suite the zelda universe. IMO Windwaker shows the zelda universe beautifully.
huh? the best zelda to date is still ocarina of time with a perfect score that only a few games in the world got.correct me if im wrong but didnt they go with the realistic approach in that game?
@sidar I have to disagree with you IMO I think the art style of Windwaker kinda ruined the experience it just looked too cartoony for my liking. Being a hardcore gamer I thought Ocarina of Time probably the best game in the series, most people say that its not graphics that make a game its gameplay but good graphics contribute to a good game if your a hardcore gamer
@Nerdkiller, Ocarina of time was still fairly cartoonish. It's just the lack of detail showing that. It doesn't matter how it scored. Irrelevant to how I feel about the visuals. @Richierich, You can't please everyone. But the amount of details that went in such a simplistic style was amazing. To this day Windwakers still stand the test of time. But I really do want a HD top down zelda game with an overworld twice the size of link to the past. Or something obscure as windwaker, I wouldn't mind seeing a grim zelda game like that again.
Sounds really promising, but I won't start hyping it until there's an official announcement.
i'll then buy a Wii in 2014
This makes sense. They hold off on their major title for 2014 when the 720 and ps4 is likely to come out. While this title want stop people from getting the 720 and ps4, it will be a compelling reason to stay with Nintendo WiiU.
OMG I super excited about this! This will be the reason I get a Wii U. I love the Zelda series and can't wait to see what the games looks like on their new hardware. I started on the original NES and have beat every Zelda game to date, including the handheld versions, this is a huge deal for me. I think that, after this Zelda title, I could die a happy man...
Very disappointed that they're sticking with the Skyward Sword art style. I mean, just watch this fan video of a Majora's Mask remake, it looks absolutely gorgeous! http://www.youtube.com/watc... Someone tell me they wouldn't want to play Zelda like that...
Let me be the first person here to tell you that I would love to play the Zelda like the fan video. I hope this artice is fake because I want a Zelda game like in the 2011 E3 tech demo
this means that when this one is announced, twilight princess will be the best zelda ever, skyward sword will be good game with good innovations and this game will flop right? the zelda trilogy theory is never wrong.
For some reason it sounds pretty legit and i bet nintendo already has a prototype or something running. I'm a bit bummed to hear that it might be Skyward Sword art style though. That game was great, but it had the most bland artstyle to date!
"will be biggest Zelda game ever"... I should hope so. It'd pretty lame if WiiU Zelda was smaller than a previous Zelda.
All aboard! xD Also; "the game's funding/manpower is Rockstar - GTA territory!"
i think zelda is a great game, but i think adult life muddies it. i mean, as a child, playing ocarina of time, i had no worries in the world, i could become engrossed in the game. can't do that anymore
Couldn't you just save your progress, then play again later?
I would hope that it would be the biggest zelda game hopefully the make it way better then the last, that was just a joke the last zelda game.
and then the zelda after this one will be even bigger! until the one after that will be the biggest, the next one will BE THE BIGGEST OF THEM ALL! UNTIL THE ZELDA AFFTER THHHATT ONE WILL BEE GIIIINNNOOORRRMOUS!!! and so on....
Might get a Wii U just for this
2014? No one will remember what a Wii U is in 2014 lmao
Haha, maybe just in America and Europe. I fear for the Wii U once the 720 and PS4 are released. Both have strong holds on Europe and America.
Not buying this info, until i see proof and official Nintendo info
I swear to god...If it's cel shaded...
Idk i'm not sure i want a new elda since miyamoto(or aonuma) said zelda would be motion controlled from now on. Maybe if they make the motion controls OPTIONAL and tweak them to work better. Also please stop giving us methods of travel like the boat, bird and train. I only say this because you couldn't get off of or out of them except predesignated areas. Let us use epona or maybe something like the pegasus boots again, they gave us greater freedom.
Twilight Princess was the worst Zelda ever made. Go back and play it right after Skyward. It's so basic and dull. A complete lack of innovation and the items are useless. You use the ballnchain in the snow dungeon and after that never again. OOT,MM,WW and Skyward Destroy Twilight. I will say that OOT,MM and WW were better than Skyward. Flawed but legit, had a lot of fun with it. I ain't comparing any other games all Zelda games were good cept Twilight.
Twilight Princess is the basic and dull one? That's what I thought about skyward sword. It was so boring.
This is the one main reason I'm looking forward to the wii u, but I honestly don't want a motion-exclusive zelda experience. It can be an option, but I'd rather just have the standard all-buttons layout.
no gamepad support=no buy for me.
Sounds like some fanboy wet dream instead of something true (budget akin to a GTA game, seriously? Who believes that with a straight face?). And Wii U Daily is a questionable place to begin with with a history of rumors that turned out false.
I would hope this game turns out to impress me. I've loved the Zelda franchise since OoT, WW being my favorite, but for some reason I can't force myself to finish SS. I thought 1:1 motion controls would make me love SS but it turned out to be the opposite. Anyways I hope this game uses a darker art style. The tech demo they should was amazing, lots of dynamic lighting and reflections.
If I may, all Zelda's are excellent maybe I feel this way because I was raised with a cousin who loved the franchise. My only problem is motion control, Nintendo did a wonderful job with implementing the motion control on Twilight Princess. However I really feel that anything with The Legend of Zelda as a title shouldn't have motion control. To me it feels like it hinders the fun in the game. Perhaps I haven't moved on from traditional Zelda. Looks like it will be a bit more traditional.
The first HD Zelda game will be huge, and a 2014 release time will be a pivotal point in the Wii U's life. You figure Microsoft and Sony will release new consoles late 2013, it usually takes a year or so to get really killer apps on a new console, that takes us to 2014, a new Zelda game could help keep Nintendo ahead in the race. I already think the Wii U is looking to have the best console launch lineup since the Sega Dreamcast. I cannot wait for a Zelda HD, even though Zelda games are already looked at as some of the best games ever, a Zelda HD game could have epic meaning in the history of that franchise.
well they said that Skyward sword would be the biggest and best zelda eveer....obviously they are trying to sell it. but it will be nice to see zelda in HD finally. one can hope it comes out good and not lame like SS. Hoping the new one looks like the tech demo. Oh and no more Motion controls please!
A darker art style sits real well with me. That fan video of a Majora's Mask remake would be great to see and play through too...
Exactly I don't see why people like motion controls when there extremely finicky even with the BEST motion controls. If noting else they should at least make it OPTIONAL.You know how games have the option to skip cutscences(there for people playing a game more then once mostly)what's wrong with making something optional? I just can't stand them forcing broken controls down our throats when even if liked motion controls you gotta admit that was the ONLY new thing about skyward sword. Take out motion controls and it plays like if wind waker and tp had a child and that child was re****ed,lol. In other words it tried to make fans of tp and windwaker fans happy but failed in both attempt. Maybe tp was rehash but unlike this game they didn't try to sell a rehash as "new" on one gimmick.
Wow, I know N4G gets a lot of trash talked about its apparent bias towards PS3, but the comment section of that page may in fact be the most embarrassing things I've read in my life. These people talk about Zelda like it's a religion.
Wow. Great news. Sounds like they are making this a huge priority.
