Codemasters: "Jury Still Out" on Yearly F1 Games

GamerZines writes:

Game director Paul Jeal lays out a template for the future of the F1 series which may or may not include a new release every single year.

He talks about the potential of next gen consoles, a new and improved career mode and what he's preparing for F1 2013 (F1 2012, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

The easiest solution to the yearly release is to add a year of DLC to your games especially if the rules and driver/team rosters are similar. Add this DLC with a title update and that breaks the yearly release cycle.
This way you can have most of your employees working on a two year release schedule and a smaller team working on the DLC update. It's a simple solution but obviously too easy for a big company like codemasters to think of.
