Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns

Vaucresson13 once again gives Final Fantasy XIII hope as he goes through the details about why this last chapter might be what fans have been waiting for. (Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, PS3, Xbox 360)

I'm probably the only person in the world excited for this. :P Let the disagrees come.
Snookies12  +   747d ago
Nah, I won't disagree with you as everyone has their own opinion on games they like... Though honestly, I just wish they'd move on with the series... I want the old days where each FF game was entirely different aside from obvious little things like Moogles, Chocobos, Cacutars, etc. I miss the days where I could just go buy a new Final Fantasy game and KNOW it was going to give me a journey unlike anything else before it.

And you're not the only one, Alndoria. I'm excited for this game. Since FFXIIIvs isn't being released I want other RPGs to play. After Ni No Kuni I'll fire this one up.

@AIndoria,

No you are not the only one. As a gamer that really enjoyed the character of Lightning in XIII and XIII-2 I am equally looking forward to this.

I'm really looking forward to this also.

XIII wasn't as bad as everyone said it was, I really enjoyed XIII-2 even though I had some complaints but I always have them in games I enjoy.

So I am really looking forward to this.

It sounds pretty cool.If they pull off the gameplay it should be fun. Hopefully it's as long or longer then the first one though. I also really want to get to know and connect with Lightning in this if shes the only character.

im looking forward to this as i actually liked xiii, xiii-2, but im a bit worried that its set hundreds of years after the events of 13-2 as i wonder how the story will carry on, tho im yet to complete the lightning dlc for 13-2 so maybe it will make more sense then

I didn't know there was so many people that really loved XIII so much, but the writer in this post, and his two previous ones on XIII, really made me want to give the game a shot again.

FFXIII sold 8 millions
FFXIII-2 sold less than 2 millions

The way I see it, not many people liked FF13 if not they would have returned to play its sequel.

Another reason could be that RPGs have always been niche titles. Advertisement can only get you so far. All the non-RPG players that picked up FFXIII remembered why the don't play those games.

The sharp decline is due more to the negative reputation XIII has than whether or not either game is actually good.

As for myself, I enjoyed XIII, was slightly less impressed with XIII-2, but think LR sounds excellent.

@lokai

When I first got XIII, I played for about 20-25hrs until I got bored with it and put it away. Then I picked it up some months later and got to Gran Pulse, then again, got bored and quit playing it. The third time I put it in, however, i played the shit out of it, and currently have 150 hrs logged. Although it wasn't the best FF by a country mile, once I fully understood it, it was really enjoyable. You should definitely give it another spin if you still have it.

I disliked 13, and liked 13-2. This looks very much like a throw back to older FFs due to more open world feel and actually explorable houses and shops.

I'm looking forward to a Final Fantasy game that doesn't suck this gen. I don't think that will happen anytime soon.
Everybody sign this petition so we can get info for Versus XIII and FF Type-0 localized.

OMG SE whats wrong with you?

I think they are just throwing out titles till next gen. It's the only thing that makes sense. Why keep jamming XIII down our throats?

Hopefully next gen we will see FFXV, and it goes back to it's roots. If not, it's the last FF game that I will ever purchase.

Sounds good i look forward to this installment

I'm disappointed to see the battle system of the first games gone to be honest. No FF game can go wrong with open-world.

For me personally Final Fantasy 13 was a good game, so was its sequel & the new game may probably be good too. However they may be good games but they were not the Final Fantasy games i was expecting. For me these games were missing some of the charm & epicness that the previous titles had.

Also to me that another game involving the cast of Final Fantasy 13 is pushing it. Final Fantasy 13 came out in 2009 & in 4 years time we are having 2 more games...i do not know about you guys but that is too much. It reminds me of the statement that Toriyama (i think) said that he wanted to make Final Fantasy a yearly thing....WHAT???!!!

Yet a game announced almost 6 years ago (i know it was not officially being made) has yet to be released & a portable game with great potential is not yet localized?

Soo squeenix are pushing back/ignoring projects of immense consumer interest for this...way to go guys.
