Kojima talks about the Metal Gear Solid movie

At the PAX 2012 panel Hideo Kojima talked a little bit about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie, produced by Avi Arad. (Culture, Metal Gear Series, PAX)

those are pretty good choices. Tom Hardy may be a little on the young side of Snake, but I could definitely see the similarities/resemblance.

Tom Hardy is becoming a big time actor, is very dedicated to his roles.

if they can get Nolan to direct he will hit it off the park, but it seems he is committed to WB

Nolan is an overrated, pretentious, conservative hack. I don't want him ANYWHERE NEAR my mgs.

Hugh Jackman as Snake seems almost perfect though.

I wouldn't mind a slightly older Snake.
Viggo Mortensen has the acting chops, the voice & he can do gritty action. (Just look at A History of Violence, Eastern Promises or the LOTR's)

Jackson's acting skills are a bit PG-13 for my liking.

@Jony_dols

Yeah i can see the Viggo look alike.
(sorry about comparison, shabbily put together in 10secs on paint XD)

I think Tom Hardy would be a better fit and the story should be about a younger snake becoming the legend. It would be a more interesting story much like how superheroes discover their powers.

@Gespenst: Agreed. Nolan is so overrated to me. Especially Incepetion. The concept was good, the execution was poor. Memento , The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were his best movies imo......everything else hes done was ok at best.

I really hope this movie is amazing, it will convince a lot of people to play this amazing series.

You want to know the sad part of this...knowing what Kojima is like with perfection and getting all these little details right this will still disapoint him

The only way he would be truely happy is if he made it himself which won't happen. Even though he wants to take his time he still won't have control over some bits, we all know what Hollywood are like.

I like the Tom Hardy choice but it's his voice...it just dosen't fit Snakes, it would feel out of place. Hugh Jackman would be a good fit though.

The thing is, directing and producing a video game is different than directing a movie. I mean come on, if Kojima directed the whole movie would probably be a cutscene. :)

Doubt it will happen or even work. It will lose numerous writers and directors. There has been two franchises that gave made the transitions and others ones have such a hard time doing it.

I would be optimistic but the past tells me going from video games to moves isn't a good translation and usually fans get all upset and unrealistic and childishness.
