Why do we need the Annual Blockbuster?

Many of you guys won’t think twice about buying the latest Annual Blockbuster this year – whether it be Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, or the latest EA Sports offering. Some of you, however, will be questioning whether they’re worth your money. There’s a lot behind studio’s decisions to offer their endless barrage of sequels, and this article hopes to explore gaming’s myriad similarities to Hollywood. (Assassin's Creed III, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Casual games, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Industry, Mass Effect 3)

In my opinion anual releases ruin the excitement. Imagine the hype if no other Call of Duty had been released after CoD4 and Modern Warfare 2 was coming this year.
