Pixels or Death's Tom Auxier talks about Mistwalker's The Last Story, and how amid an utterly failed gameplay experience lurks something truly unique and imaginative:
"That’s an important note: it’s pretty terrible. The design, especially, doesn’t jive with video games, modern or classic...There’s a Goddamn Good Idea behind every one of The Last Story’s doors, though."
I can bet many people are still experiencing "where are all the rpgs?" syndrome even after the release of Xenoblade and The Last Story. We are simply not impressed yet, so bring it on.
And don't use ad hominem. Especially if you're trying to make a valid point--it demeans your argument.

@Straightpath
Wii does seem to be getting some great RPG's. Haven't played it myself since i haven't touched or bought anything on my wii since wiifit.
Xenoblade & Lost story probably could have gotten alot more sales if it was ported over to PS3/360.
I probably will get those games when I have a decent enough PC to emulate the Wii.
Words can't describe how wrong you are, with that statement and pretty much every statement you've ever made on N4G.I'm seriously at an absolute loss with you.How can one person have so many horrible opinions?
...Some people are just born with poor taste,I suppose.
Im at the last boss right now trying to beat his ass. Thought i might be overleveled but this f***er is IMPOSSIBLE. Luckily theres a summon circle right by the save point so 10 minutes of leveling and i will stand a chance. Thats another thing i love about this game. Theres no needless wondering around and grinding for hours. I dont want 40 hours of filler. I appreciate games like Xenoblade but sometimes i just want to make progress and enjoy the ride (the story).
Rich narrative with characters you actually care about
Innovative and fast-paced battle system
Beautiful visuals push the Wii to its limits
Heaps of side quests
Great localization.
The Last Story is a very solid game, it's not the best ever, but it is far from the worst. I would say The Last Story is slightly above average.
Just wanted to reply as I posted this article to N4G. I didn't write it; and it's important that I point out that the "best worst" description was mine, not the author's. I hope that your read (that's present tense read, not past tense "read") the article and evaluate his other points, not just my hasty description!
I wish the author would cite examples, instead of just hoping we'd take his word on it, because the controls are pretty fine for me so far, the presentation for everything except the menus is actually really nice (I particularly like how when you walk past someone, if they are close enough you actually bump shoulders), and the upgrade system for weapons and armor so far is "go the upgrade shop, do you have the right materials? Yes? Upgraded." There's actually some places where you can farm for materials and they don't feel like a waste of time.
Also, the stealth stuff is actually pretty great, but uh...since when is your best attack being a surprise attack not...you know, pretty standard. As for tactics, while the AI isn't the brightest, I don't see how they get in the way of any grand schemes. They don't attack without you leading and each person plays their roll pretty well. There's also a tactics mode where you can give orders.
So far, I have to say, that while The Last Story isn't the best game ever, it is far, far from the worst.
It seems to be based on the elder jrpg formatives, with a modern twist. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, so I won't quell on the negativity of this article, and simply state that I "disagree."
