Elder Scrolls Skyrim: PlayStation 3 Gamers Got Patch 1.7 But No Dawnguard DLC

Mobile & Apps: "PlayStation 3 gamers finally got patch 1.7 for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, but the Dawnguard downloadable content remains elusive. Dawnguard has already been released for both the Xbox 360 and PC, so many PS3 gamers question the delay. The developer could be having technical difficulties trying to get the DLC over to PlayStation 3 owners."

They've released an update on the DLC situation. Doesn't sound too positive unfortunately.

I think Bethesda should have given PS3 players a heads up before they shelled out $60 for the game that it would have little to no support from DLC OR technical. It only seems fair.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4249d ago

In one sense it doesn't bother me because I never intended to buy any DLC and I enjoyed the game and also got it at launch for a very genrous discounted price. However, it is very shady on Bethasdas part to release this game the way they did. If they can't support it the way they intended then clearly Bethesda needs to hire people capible of doing their jobs correctly. On one hand I enjoyed the game, but on the other hand I contributed to the success of a developer that do not deserve it because they can't do their jobs correctly.

I'm really surprised and disgusted that they can get away with this treatment to the PS3 community without anyone calling them out on it. And by anyone calling them out on it, I mean the likes of big video games sites, i.e. IGN, GAMESPOT, etc..

They release a half-assed broken game, take months to fix it, now we may not even get the DLC?

Is anyone on the gamers side anymore? Why aren't they being held accountable for this shit?

Roper3164249d ago

Why? Because people continually buy their games there is no reason to change what they are doing quality wise. I played through Skyrim and have close to 300hrs of play time. I think the game froze on me twice where I had to actually reboot the PS3 and I had frame rate issues in certain areas. As far as the DLC is concerned if we get it we get it, if not oh well.

Merrill4249d ago (Edited 4249d ago )

I haven't had any issues with the game 'post' patch(the odd freeze)but before that the game was a mess for a huge percentage of PS3 players, actually unplayable.

They really seem to be either unwilling or unable to program properly for the system its self.

I can't imagine this is all because of a deal with Microsoft, and if so wouldn't that be illegal?
Advertising a product the same for all systems, but in reality it's no wheres near that.

PS3 players expected and were told they would also be getting the DLC, so not "oh well". Are they supposed to buy the game twice in order to keep playing?

It almost feels like a sort of bigotry.

I do agree that we need to stop buying their games in order to protest this type of action, or just buy them used.

rymanb4249d ago

Surely before creating DLC the developers make sure that all platforms are able to cope with it?

I don't understand how they've only realised how difficult this will be to get on PS3 this far down the line... Hopefully they'll plan a little more carefully with future DLC.

Sketchy_Galore4249d ago

Was this 1.7 update supposed to stop my system freezing when I wade more than chest deep into water? Because it hasn't.

Parapraxis4249d ago

The water in Skyrim is bloody cold.

MasterCornholio4249d ago

I had that happen to me before. Just uninstall the game data (which won't delete your saves) and patch it again. This solution worked for me.

Anyways I do agree that Bethesda did a pretty bad job on the PS3 and it makes me wonder if the deal with Microsoft went beyond delayed DLC.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast14d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22914d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko14d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
