Sony Fails to Mention Big Flaw in PS Vita's PSOne Compatibility
The PS Vita's latest firmware update adds PSOne compatibility to the console, but there is one big flaw that Sony has failed to mention.
(PS Vita, Sony)
This was actually an issue for me in the EU, as I tried downloading Soul Reaver yesterday on my Vita and it didn't work. But when I tried it today, I think Sony did some maintenance, I managed to download it directly from my download list whereas before I couldn't.
I can't believe you got dislikes for your comment. And he is correct people! Why would he get a PS3 if he has no desire to? Its not like he's saying that the PS3 sucks, its just that there is no necessity in buying one for himself.
About hundreed games are available through Vita's PS Store in Europe. I guess the situation in US is just temporal. Don't you see no PSone games for your taste in those nine till then?
It's an issue for me. I own two PS3s but they're both in my house a 1000 miles away from where I am. I'm on an extended remote assignment for work. I brought the Vita with me because it was.... (wait for it)... portable. So, really, yes, from that perspective this is really a PITA.
Thankfully I got my PSP games transferred over before I left. I still find it annoying that not all of those are on there either.
Why the FRICK would you own a Vita, but not a PS3?!? That makes no sense to me. The flagship titles were sequels to PS3 games. I love Gravity Rush, but I doubt you guys bought the system for it. Basically...you guys make terrible decisions.
Simple. I already had an Xbox. I wanted a good portable system so I bought a Vita. I shouldn't have to buy a PS3 to support my Vita. Why can't it be an indepent system?
A person isn't allowed to buy a Vita if they don't own a PS3? Wow. Does it say 'If you buy this product and don't own a PS3 you are making a terrible decision' on the Vita box? That'd be a good commercial slogan, if you didn't want to sell many Vitas.
Because I already have a 360 and a Wii. I don't need to have another home console. I bought my Vita because I wanted a portable console. Also, the flagship titles were the reason I bought it. Uncharted and Resistance may be big on the PS3, but that doesn't mean that you have to own a PS3 to get a Vita. Your logic sucks. If you had it your way, it'd be a requirement to buy a PS3 before you can get a Vita. The Vita is being weighed down because it's seen as a companion console for the PS3, and people like you are only perpetuating that idea.
i agree with you because ps vita fanboys are using double standers lol
when i talked about the accounts and memory problems they said it's my fault for not getting over it , but now they are not getting over this ...
you know what guys ?. i lost money too for not being able to transfer my games from different accounts ! so you should get over this , you have to look at it from sony eyes ! this way they are getting more money which you are not blaming them because you agree on the accounts and memory thing !
i also losed my main account !! just like what i said befor i buy the vita , it's annoying as hell !! but still like it ^^ , it needs alots of fixes , no arabic in twitter , at least let me read it >.< , browser without flash player -.- , all of these can be fixed...
That 'a boy Hicken, continue wasting your 1 bubble doing damage control.
Sony will have a fix for this but it should have been an obvious alert from the beginning. The whole Playstation Store needs a major overhaul anyways. I expect when the PS4 comes out everything will be much more cohesive and Vita will be in full swing by then. PS2 games will also overshadow PS1 games in the store by then too.
I agree. You know Sony will have this all sorted out in a store update. Vita users with a PS3 get PSOne games early. Vita owners without a PS3, well nothing's changed for you now, has it, so you haven't lost anything.
If you don't have a PS3 at this point you are not a real gamer to begin with. I am sorry if you would purposely miss out on some of the best games this gen you need help.
that doesn't make you any more of a "real gamer" than someone playing a nintendo game from the past. a gamer plays games because he loves it that's how i see it
So, what is preventing you from loving a whole bunch of PS3's exclusives? Do you play platforms and not good games?

Real gamers play games no matter the console whether it be PC, Xbox, PS3, Wii, and other devices. Limiting yourself to 1 console is really a good way to miss so many other games that are great. The Vita is geared for those that play Playstation devices if you don't have a PS3 you will miss a lot of functions that you would not have just owning the Vita. I really could careless if you disagree with my statement and many will on the troll zone that is N4G. Missing out on gaming experiences that are exclusive to the PS3 is stupid if you really enjoy playing games.
I would have to agree with RaVeN on this one if do not own a PS3 at this point you are really missing out on really great games. Sadly fanboys tend to miss out on games because of blindness. Having a Vita and not owning is PS3 is a huge mistake. With all the new functions that will be added for games you will missing a good amount of gameplay options like in LBP2. I am sure they will add more stuff like this in the months ahead as well.
Its not as if I want to miss out on PS3 games. Some people have more important stuff to spend money on than video games. When i got the money for a PS Vita or a PS3 I made a logical choice to upgrade my handheld console instead of getting yet another home console. It has nothing to do with bias or fanboyism otherwise Id never have gotten a Vita in the first place
I wonder why Sony only gave America 9 official PS1 games?
I think Sony success with the PS3 is remarkable considering the so called biggest gaming market's press has been shitting on them for the last 5 years.
9 only on the vita store? On the singapore and i presume other asian countries stores, theres at least above 70+ ps1 titles readily to be downloaded on to the vita. Unfortunately, they're all in Japanese and i dont spea or read it :L
Probably because 9 was all they had ready to go at the time. I truly believe this number will be increased over time. Everybody's making it a bigger issue than it is.
All the PS games that couldn't be downloaded from the download history on my Vita yesterday, can be downloaded today. Check your download history on your Vita.
"This is a considerable problem if you don’t own a PS3 but purchased a PSOne classic for nostalgia’s sake"
Is it saying that If I do not own A PS3 but a Vita and purchase something from the PS3 PSN store I cannot transfer it on the Vita because I don't have a PS3?
I may have read it wrong, just don't understand what the problem is at the first place. If I own only a Vita then I am only limited to a tiny number of games, I won't even have the choice of what the PS3 has to offer.
Can you download games from the PC and transfer to the Vita?
I believe that they are trying to say the issue is that if you on a Vita but not a PS3, you only have access to very few of the PS1 games compatible for the Vita.
Take Castlevania SotN, the game is compatible with the Vita, but you can't directly get it from the Vita. You need to first get the game on the PS3 then transfer it to the Vita.
OK. Well, If you only own a Vita then you probably wouldn't have known how limited you were.
"This is a considerable problem if you don’t own a PS3 but purchased a PSOne classic for nostalgia’s sake" That line still doesn't make sense, what has the person purchased? what is the problem?
But stil any PSone game you bought on the PSP for your PSN account should be available on Vita with the same PSN account through the download history in Vita's PS Store.
The best thing I can think of is if you bought a PS1 game like SotN, but then your PS3 broke down. Assuming you have yet to get another one, there is no way to get SotN on your Vita. (can't directly download it to the vita from the download list either.)
@UltiMate. I tried going through the download history, but it said the every PS1 game I had where unavailable for download on the Vita.
you cant connect the PSVita to the PC to download games, but what i believe you could do is buy the desired PSOne game on the Media GO PSN and then download it on the PSVita PSN once it is on your download list.
im going to try that.
UPDATE: it doesnt work... WTF is up with sony? giving sh!t support to the PSVita im starting to regret having one >:(
That's the application to DL psn/psp/vita games on the PC right? That's what I was talking about, sorry it's been a while since I've used it. Slow as balls last time I tried.
Go buy a PS3 if you enjoy Uncharted, God of War, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone, Starhawk, LBP, Heavy Rain, and Gran Turismo! Also if you like free multiplayer.
Go Buy a 360 if you enjoy Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Alan Wake, Forza, and Left 4 Dead! Also if you like paying for Xbox Live.
It's your choice. Personally I've spent well over $300 on Xbox Live Subscriptions, and well over $500 in the Marketplace. I'm done spending money on a service that should be free. I could have saved that $300 and bought so many other games. On top of that I could have played so many more games if I wasn't always tied down to just playing MP games because of Xbox Live. I'm done with Xbox Live, COD, Halo and boy does it feel good!
''If you don't have a PS3 at this point you are not a real gamer to begin with. I am sorry if you would purposely miss out on some of the best games this gen you need help.'' http://www.youtube.com/watc...
even if it affected only 1% of vita owners this just shows how sony still mishandled their software once more. in a connected age as this is the way vita operates is just unbelievable. the least sony should deliver is the same ease of use and region freeness existing on the ps3 because you know... they ve done it already and it cant be very difficult to implement it. the psone compatibility is something I dont understand how sony can still struggle with, having done it for the ps2, psp AND ps3. these all systems are different so they know (should) how to do it in different ways

This is my personal opinion, am not saying you or the world should accept it or that if you debate it ill listen to you or change my mind about some subject because of a random rant on some gaming forum. Accept it as it is and wether you agree with it or not, jus let it go.
Even if Sony did have every single downloadable PS1 game available people would just complain that they didn't have the other thousand or so titles that were released during the PS1's lifespan up on the store.
Just be patient people damn. I am sure there is a reason why it couldn't have been all available in the US PSN Vita store from the get go. I'm disappointed myself I can't download more psone games directly to my Vita, but either some how get them through the PS3 or simply wait for a bit before the games are available directly from the Vita.
Damn, it seems like whining, complaining and making an issue over something that will be available in the near future is the new fad or cool trend to do nowadays it seems.
The nine games available now are absolute classics, why not enjoy them again in the mean time?
Everyone and there grandma are complaining and making a big fuss over trivial things that with a little patience will get resolved soon. Those who can't have a little patience with this petty situation are a bunch of cry babies who acts like the world revolves around them.
Did y'all for once thought that Sony, if they'd have the option to choose, wouldn't have released all the games at once through the Vita? I don't know what the reason is but freaken-A....shut up and play some other games or find something else to do and simply wait.
I agree that it is pretty confusing as to why they are all not available directly through the Vita, but some things we simply just cannot understand. What we all can agree is life isn't perfect. Game developers and console makers aren't perfect either. Neither are humans, which we all are, but we can certainly be closer to being perfect by being understanding whenever it makes sense. That is now.
we as consumers need to expect nothing but the best experiencence from our service providers especially when we pay for it and the said service isnt rocket science. yeah, something is holding them back, maybe ignorance? maybe some engineer there is messing up, like they did with the ps3 security and allowed the initial hacking? what am saying is they have lots of engineers there; they should have solved this in firmware 1.0.0 instead of patching things up. just imagine if the vita were an Apple product
IMO buy a ps3. I mean, sometimes you want to play that awesome rpg on a big screen instead of a bitty screen anyways. And why the hell would you not have a ps3 and only a Vita anyways? lol.
Am I missing something?
Stop presenting your personal opinions as if they are factual. You are not the elected spokesman for the gaming community.
Reporting you for trolling.
how was he trolling? are seriously upset because he doesn't want a PS3?
The only known fact worth talking about right here, is how your intelligence is half of the generic gamer
I dont own a Vita yet but isn't PSone catalogue available from PS Store on Vita ?
:(
Just curious but does that stand for eunuch?

Fixed that for ya.

I know a lot of people who don't have the time and money to go get all consoles but I do know they're passionate about their choice of games.
I think Sony success with the PS3 is remarkable considering the so called biggest gaming market's press has been shitting on them for the last 5 years.

M$ has the worst hardware in history, people buy new machines because they are shit scared of the original breaking.
Or nintendo releases overpriced, outdated hardware with a gimmick, no aa. cartoon graphics. Pathetic/.
Sony are doomed if they do, doomed if they don't.
3DS has nothing special game wise, mario, mariokart, zelda.
That's it. new mario 2 is the same game as the one on the wii basically.
